Our client is seeking an experienced AWS Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to support the rapid implementation of a new data exchange platform. The solution will receive data files from multiple vendors, land them in AWS storage, and provide secure access to another third-party vendor for downstream processing.
This individual will work with our data engineering, cloud infrastructure, security, and vendor teams to establish the initial environment, production-ready data flows, and the foundation for longer-term archival use.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement secure, reliable file-based data flows in AWS.
- Configure AWS storage, access controls, encryption, logging, and third-party vendor connectivity.
- Establish data retention, lifecycle management, and archiving policies.
- Develop infrastructure and deployment automation, preferably using Terraform.
- Support integration with enterprise-level AWS organization, account, networking, and security standards as those controls are implemented.
- Coordinate with internal cloud support teams that are establishing broader AWS tenant and organizational controls.
- Document the architecture, operational procedures, security configuration, and support model.
- Provide hands-on troubleshooting and knowledge transfer to internal teams.
Qualifications
- Strong data engineering background, including secure movement and management of large files.
- Hands-on experience designing, implementing, and supporting AWS data solutions.
- Experience with Amazon S3, IAM, encryption, lifecycle policies, logging, and cross-account or third-party access.
- Experience implementing infrastructure as code, preferably with Terraform.
- Ability to work across data engineering, infrastructure, cybersecurity, cloud platform, and external vendor teams.
- Comfortable operating in an AWS environment where enterprise governance and tenant-level standards are still being established.
- Able to work independently and move quickly in support of a critical implementation.
- Familiarity with regulated or sensitive data environments. Healthcare, genomic data, or PHI experience is strongly preferred.
