Job description

As the AVP Mortgage Loan Origination, you will provide leadership and oversight for the mortgage origination team, ensuring exceptional member service, high-quality loan production, regulatory compliance, and achievement of departmental growth objectives. You will coach and develop Mortgage Loan Originators, monitor pipeline performance, strengthen processes, and promote collaboration between Mortgage Origination and Mortgage Operations.

This role blends production leadership with business development — building and maintaining strong relationships with realtors, builders, developers, and other referral partners; representing Community First Credit Union at industry and community events; and partnering with Senior Management to expand our mortgage market share and presence across the communities we serve.

As the AVP Mortgage Loan Origination with CFCU, you will:

  • Lead and coach the mortgage team. Provide leadership, direction, performance coaching, and ongoing feedback to Mortgage Loan Originators to achieve production, quality, service, and operational goals.
  • Build referral relationships and drive business development. Develop and maintain strong relationships with realtors, builders, developers, and community partners, and represent the Credit Union at industry and community events to strengthen referral relationships.
  • Grow our market presence. Partner with MLOs to execute relationship-building and business-development strategies, identifying opportunities to expand the Credit Union's visibility through outreach, networking, and community engagement.
  • Manage the pipeline and drive results. Monitor and manage the mortgage origination pipeline, ensuring timely follow-up and effective workload management, and analyze production and referral data to improve efficiency and results.
  • Lead collaboration across teams. Lead the Mortgage Collaboration Team, serve as a liaison between Mortgage Origination and Mortgage Operations, and partner across lending, compliance, risk, and training to resolve issues and improve the member experience.
  • Recruit and develop top talent. Lead the recruitment, onboarding, training, development, and coaching of Mortgage Loan Originators, and maintain product and regulatory knowledge across the team.
  • Support compliance and change management. Assist with regulatory monitoring, quality control, and compliance reviews, and support change-management initiatives related to mortgage technology, systems, and processes.
  • Report and advise leadership. Prepare and communicate production, pipeline, and performance reports to Senior Management, and provide recommendations to strengthen production growth and market share.

We are looking for a combination of:

  • Bachelor's degree in banking, finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field preferred; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive mortgage loan origination experience.
  • Previous lending leadership and people-management experience required.
  • Strong understanding of mortgage products, lending processes, regulatory requirements, and origination best practices.
  • Strong leadership and people-development skills, with the ability to motivate, coach, and build a high-performing team.
  • Strong business-development and relationship-management skills, with the ability to build long-term relationships with realtors, builders, developers, and community partners.
  • Excellent member service, communication, networking, and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with sound judgment and the ability to resolve complex issues with minimal supervision.
  • Exceptional organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with professionalism and discretion.
