About South Story Bank & Trust

At South Story Bank & Trust, we are helping our communities, businesses and customers write their own stories through financing, banking, re-investing in our communities and giving back. We foster a collaborative, progressive environment where dedicated professionals can build rewarding careers while making a tangible impact in the community.

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and collaborative Assistant Vice President (AVP) Operations Manager to lead and enhance our bank’s operational functions.

This position plays a critical leadership role in ensuring efficient, compliant, and customer-focused operations while supporting the strategic goals of the bank. The ideal candidate will bring strong management experience, a solid understanding of banking operations, and the ability to effectively lead teams, drive projects, and collaborate across departments. Experience in Deposit Operations is strongly preferred, and Treasury Management knowledge is a plus.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership & Oversight: Provide leadership and oversight for Deposit Operations and Treasury Management functions, ensuring efficient operations, regulatory compliance, and exceptional customer service.

Compliance & Risk Management: Develop, implement, and maintain operational policies, procedures, and controls that support operational accuracy, risk management, and audit readiness.

Client Engagement & Relationship Strategy: Build strong relationships with customers, vendors, and internal stakeholders through proactive communication.

Innovation & Continuous Improvement: Lead strategic initiatives, process improvements, technology enhancements, and bank-wide projects that improve efficiency and support organizational goals.

Reporting & Analysis: Prepare and analyze operational reports, identify trends, and recommend solutions to enhance service quality, mitigate risk, and control costs.

Team Leadership: Supervise, coach, and develop Deposit Operations and Treasury Management staff, including performance management, training, and workload delegation.

What We Offer

  • Competitive Compensation: A salary package that rewards both individual and team performance.
  • Comprehensive Benefits: Health, dental, and vision coverage, life insurance, generous paid time off, a 401(k) plan with matching contributions.
  • Growth & Development: Opportunities for professional and career growth in a supportive, community-focused environment.
  • Inclusive Culture: South Story Bank & Trust is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We value diversity and are dedicated to providing a welcoming, inclusive workplace for all.

Onsite Work Requirement: This position requires regular onsite attendance and is not eligible for remote work within the first year. The successful candidate will be expected to work from the designated office location during normal business hours.

Requirements:

Experience: Minimum five years of banking operations experience, preferably in Deposit Operations or Treasury Management, with at least two years proven leadership experience in Treasury Management, Banking Operations, or related financial services.

Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration or related field preferred. Accredited ACH Professional (AAP) certification or Certified Treasury Professional (CTP) designation preferred.

Specific Skills: Strong knowledge of electronic banking platforms, risk management, and regulatory compliance with demonstrated ability to lead bank-wide projects from planning and implementation through execution and follow up.

Interpersonal Skills: Ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex projects in a dynamic environment.
