Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY
Support and lead design and planning efforts on General Aviation and Air Carrier airport projects. Provide work at the direction of a project manager to ensure all project contractual and quality control requirements are met. Assist in aviation construction oversite and perform duties in the field for site visits and data collection as needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Performs engineering tasks under close supervision; encouraged to solve engineering problems using experience, judgment and education but expected to ask for assistance when needed.
  • Performs modeling and calculations for projects.
  • Analyzes and compiles reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, tests, and aerial photographs on soil composition, terrain, hydrological characteristics, existing field conditions, record drawings, and other topographical and geologic data to plan and design project.
  • Calculates cost and determines feasibility of project based on analysis of collected data.
  • Prepares or directs preparation and modification of reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, environmental impact studies, and designs for project.
  • Researches, interprets, and applies design and other project criteria from design manuals.
  • Researches code and permitting requirements for project sites as directed.
  • Diagnose and resolve design and software issues.

Job Requirements
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum of bachelor's degree in engineering from four-year college or university.
  • 0-4 years relevant work experience and have passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam.
  • Proficient in modeling software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, and other software such as Excel, Word, Teams, and Bluebeam Revu.

SKILLS and ABILITIES
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought.
  • Ability to research and interpret design guidance material and apply it to drawings, plans, and reports.
  • Ability to interpret sketches, drawings, building program and other similar material.
  • Ability to communicate effectively to project managers, team members, Federal/State agencies, clients, and contractors.
  • Strong verbal communications skills.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public are essential.
