Job Description

Minneapolis College, a vibrant and inclusive two-year community college in Minnesota, is accepting applications for one (1) unlimited, full-timeAviation Maintenance Technician Instructorposition in ourAircraft Maintenance Technician Department within the School of Trade Technologiesstarting 2026 Fall Semester. The instructor will teach students in the new evening cohorts that we will add tothe Program inAugust2026.This position follows a 9-month academic calendar, mid-August to mid-May. Additional work opportunities may be available in summer; such work would be optional and would result in additional compensation.

Program Features:

  • Located in Delta Air Lines Building C at Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport.

  • Teaches Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe & Powerplant curriculum (14 CFR Part 147)

  • Currently enrolls three cohorts of 25 students each (daytime classes) witha commitmentto add two cohorts of 25 students each (evening classes) starting inAugust2026.

  • Prepares students to passtheFAA Airman Certificatewith "A" and "P" ratingswritten, oral, and practicalexaminations andobtain employment as aviation maintenance technicians.

  • One of 49 Delta Air Lines "preferred" aviation maintenance technician schools with access to and support from one of the nation's largest airlines.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide quality teaching in assigned field of study to a very diverse student population;

  • Develop and revise instructional materials;

  • Assess student outcomes at the course, department, and College levels;

  • Maintain labs, instructional equipment, and tools in a safe, clean, organized, and professional manner;

  • Establish, cultivate, and maintain collegial and cooperative work relationships with instructors in the Aircraft Maintenance A&P Technician Program, the Department's administrators, academic advisors, and support staff, and all College personnel;

  • Participate actively in the college community through Aircraft Maintenance Technician Department and School of Trade Technologies meetings and College-wide committee work;

  • Utilize campus technology to stay current in the aviation maintenance technician occupation and connect to faculty, staff, and students; and

  • Participate in ongoing professional development activities and professional association memberships.

Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications for the Minnesota State credential field of Aviation Maintenance:

  • Education Requirement: diploma in aviation maintenance or FAA-approved on-the-job training.

  • Occupational Experience Requirement: four full-time (or equivalent) years of verified related paid occupational experience in aviation maintenance.

  • Recency Requirement: one year of this work experience shall be within the five years immediately preceding the date of application for the credential field. The recency requirement shall be waived if the individual has two years of successful full-time (or equivalent) postsecondary teaching experience in the credential field within the last five years.

  • Professional Requirement: FAA Airframe and Power Plant License (FAA 147 requirement)

  • Teaching and Learning Competency Requirement (to be completed within first three years of employment)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in aviation maintenance, aviation management, education, or a related field.

  • FAA Inspection Authorization (IA).

  • Experience teaching inFAAPart 147 programs or other formal aviationmaintenance techniciantraining environments.

  • Experience withlearning managementsystems (e.g., D2L Brightspace, Canvas, Blackboard).

  • Background in mentoring, coaching, or supervisingaviation maintenancetechnicians or apprentices.

  • Experience working with diverse student populations, includingfirst generation, adult learners, and multilingual students.

  • Experience integrating emerging technologies (e.g., digital maintenance systems, composites, avionics troubleshooting tools) into instruction.

Other Requirements

  • Ability to pass a background check and be issued a contractor's T.O.C. security badge by Delta Air Lines for facility access.

  • Current and former employees must be in good standing with Minneapolis College to be considered for the position.

Salary Range

$44,359 - $101,619 annually. Salary schedule placement is determined on the basis of education and experience and in accordance with the 2025 - 2027 Master Agreement between the Minnesota State Board of Trustees and the Minnesota State College Faculty.
