Job description

PGAL is a national design firm specializing in architecture, engineering, interiors, and planning for a diverse group of public and private sector clients. We believe great design grows from a supportive, energized environment. That’s why we encourage initiative, value diverse perspectives, and give team members the opportunity to take meaningful ownership of their work. From your first day at PGAL, you will be part of a collaborative process where your voice matters and your contributions make a real impact. If you are seeking a firm where design excellence is matched by commitment to professional development and a culture that values people, PGAL offers a place to thrive and grow.

PGAL is seeking a dynamic and experienced Aviation Engineer to support our existing aviation projects, assist in pursuing new projects, and contribute to the growth of our aviation engineering group. This role entails working with a high-performing engineering team, managing aviation engineering subconsultants, collaborating closely with our established architectural aviation group on nationwide projects, and exploring new business opportunities across both landside and airside sectors.

This role can be based in either our Houston or Dallas offices, with opportunities to lead efforts and support aviation pursuits nationwide, contributing to PGAL's reputation as a leader in aviation design across the country.

As the Aviation Engineer, you will contribute to all aspects of project delivery, contract management, team leadership, and quality assurance.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support design needs and help mentor a team to ensure the successful delivery of aviation engineering projects that include the design of taxiways, taxi lanes, aprons, roadways, stormwater, and utility infrastructure
  • Coordinate with airport authorities, airlines, federal agencies, and other stakeholders, including construction administration/management, as well as PGAL's Architecture and Civil Engineering Teams
  • Collaborate with architecture and engineering leadership to help develop goals, growth plans, and implement strategic initiatives for a variety of airside and landside airport projects, including but not limited to:
    • Commercial and General Aviation Airport master planning
    • Passenger terminal redevelopment programs
    • FAA movement area expansions and reconstruction
    • Airfield utility infrastructure assessments
  • Support business development efforts in the aviation engineering market and support collaborative architecture/engineering aviation pursuits to help expand PGAL’s strong nationwide aviation presence into the aviation engineering market.
  • Develop, maintain, and grow key client relationships in commercial service and general aviation.
  • Actively participate in industry initiatives and events to maintain PGAL’s presence and leadership in aviation design, including recruiting qualified personnel.
  • Manage multiple projects with cross-functional teams.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5-10 years of experience in aviation civil engineering, design, and project management
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an accredited university
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in TX is required. Additional state licensures are a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of and experience in the application of FAA Advisory Circulars for airport design and construction, including taxiways, taxilanes, aircraft parking aprons, grading/drainage, pavement markings, and other federal regulation processes such as preparation of FAA 7460-1 applications and 49 CFR Par 77 analyses
  • Self-motivated and results-driven, with a focus on meeting individual and strategic goals for the aviation engineering group
  • Aviplan, AutoCAD, and Civil3D experience and/or working knowledge of design software preferred
  • Excellent communication, management, and organizational abilities
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship

PGAL offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, flexible spending accounts, a 401(k) plan, and profit sharing. We also offer paid leave, including holidays, PTO, and paid parental leave.
