About the Role
Hello, English Learner Teachers!Ampersand Therapy is hiring a full-time English Learner Teacher for a school setting in Birmingham, AL. In this role, you'll play a critical part in student success by providing high-quality English language instruction to English Learners, supporting their academic achievement, and collaborating with educators and families to ensure every student has equitable access to learning.

What You'll Do

  • Assess students' English language proficiency using WIDA ACCESS and other state-approved screening and assessment tools.

  • Deliver engaging English language instruction that supports students' listening, speaking, reading, and writing development.

  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to implement instructional strategies, accommodations, and supports for English Learners.

  • Monitor student progress, maintain accurate records, and complete required state and federal documentation.

  • Participate in parent conferences, EL meetings, IEP meetings (when applicable), and collaborate with school staff to support student success.

  • Ensure compliance with Alabama State Department of Education guidelines and federal Title III requirements for English Learner services.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, English as a Second Language (ESL), English Learner (EL) Education, or a related field.

  • Valid Alabama Professional Educator Certificate with appropriate EL/ESL certification or endorsement, or eligibility to obtain certification.

  • Knowledge of WIDA English Language Development Standards, WIDA ACCESS assessments, and best practices for English language instruction.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills

  • School-based experience preferred, not required
