Job Title: Lead AV Technician

Reports to: Project Manager, Ambient AVL

About Us:
Ambient AVL is a growing and dynamic provider of quality audio visual solutions for churches, schools, businesses, and performing arts centers. We specialize in designing and delivering integrated AVL systems that are tailored specifically to each of our client's needs.
Position Overview:
The Lead AV Installation Technician will work closely with the Project Manager to coordinate all project requirements, and then to work with installation teams, ensuring successful completion of the project. This position will provide opportunities to act onsite in a supportive leadership role for the assigned installation and team, under the guidance and direction of the Project Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Project Manager in analyzing project installation requirements, including labor, components, and cabling;
  • Assist the Project Manager to determine scheduling and installation team requirements for the project;
  • Assist the Project Manager to coordinate and assist the efforts of project installation teams;
  • Ensure proper installation, programming, commissioning, testing, setup and troubleshooting of the project AVL and control components;
  • Regularly communicate project status with the Project Manager;
  • Assist in designs of future projects as needed;
  • Prepare upcoming project components in the warehouse;
  • Assist in live event productions performed by Ambient AVL;
  • Participate in mandatory industry, safety or manufacturer training;
  • Uphold the Core Values and embody the culture of Ambient AVL;
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Excellent work ethic, attitude, and communication skills (both written and verbal). Professionalism and strong customer service are absolute requirements;
  • Knowledge of standard safety requirements is required;
  • Previous hands-on installation experience with live AVL systems;
  • Advanced understanding of professional AVL systems, terminology, and commonly used components;
  • Advanced understanding of AVL signal flow and routing;
  • Advanced understanding of projection, video, and display platforms;
  • Advanced understanding of audio techniques and ability to run a sound console;
  • Demonstrate high attention to detail and proper installation techniques;
  • Minimum one year experience leading and coordinating AVL installation teams or similar is preferred;
  • Advanced understanding of required tools and proper use of them for specific tasks related to AVL;
  • Strong working knowledge of Vectorworks drawings is preferable;
  • Experience with reading, interpreting, and implementing design docs and site plan drawings;
  • Experience configuring basic networking related to AVL integration;
  • Understand the correct cabling requirements for AVL systems;
  • Advanced understanding of termination methods and procedures for all cabling connections related to AVL Installs (XLR, BNC, DMX, RJ45, IDC, Speakon, Powercon, True 1, speaker and line level, etc.);
  • Meet all other Ambient Installation Technician requirements.

Physical and Travel Requirements
This position requires the employee to be able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds; to reach above shoulder level; to stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl; to climb stairs and ramps; to climb ladders and perform job requirements from high lift equipment up to 50 feet above the ground.
This position requires in-state travel up to 75% of the time with occasional out-of-state travel (roughly 20%).
