Job description

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client that is seeking a Software Engineering Support AUTOSAR x5 in Blacksburg, VA.
Summary:
We are looking for an experienced Software Engineering Support to lead the development, integration, validation, and automation of embedded software for advanced automotive and safety-critical platforms. This individual will provide technical leadership across software, systems, hardware, and safety teams while driving scalable, maintainable, and efficient development processes.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead the architecture, development, integration, and delivery of embedded software across multiple programs and platforms
* Own technical delivery of major software features, ECU programs, and platform capabilities
* Drive software design, implementation, integration, build, release, and deployment activities
* Define technical direction for software architecture, test automation, deployment, and engineering efficiency
* Lead embedded software configuration and integration activities
* Diagnose and resolve complex software, integration, and system-level issues
* Develop automation solutions and tools to improve software generation, builds, testing, validation, releases, and engineering productivity
* Identify manual workflows and implement automation to improve quality, consistency, and development velocity
* Expand automated testing across simulation, hardware-in-the-loop, and vehicle-level environments
* Drive CI/CD adoption and automated validation workflows
* Support software bring-up, debugging, integration, and validation on target hardware and test environments
* Ensure alignment with applicable functional safety, quality, and compliance requirements
* Lead technical reviews and mentor engineers on software development and engineering best practices
* Partner with cross-functional teams to align technical execution with program objectives and long-term platform scalability
REQUIREMENTS:
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
* 7+ years of embedded software development experience
* Strong experience with embedded software architecture, integration, and configuration
* Experience working with automotive or other complex embedded systems
* Experience developing engineering automation tools, test frameworks, or CI/CD solutions
* Experience working within functional safety or other regulated development environments
* Strong understanding of communication protocols, diagnostics, and system integration
* Strong proficiency in C/C++ and Python
* Strong communication, collaboration, and mentoring skills
* Demonstrated ability to lead technical initiatives and solve complex software and system integration challenges
Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience supporting advanced driver assistance, autonomous, or other safety-critical systems
* Experience with modern embedded software architectures and frameworks
* Experience with automotive development and testing tools
* Experience with software bring-up, integration, and debugging on embedded targets, hardware-in-the-loop environments, and vehicle-level test systems
* Experience working within structured automotive software development processes
* Experience developing automated test frameworks, infrastructure, and CI/CD pipelines
* Experience supporting safety-rated software development and technical audits
* Experience leading cross-functional technical initiatives or major software releases
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
