About the Role:

The Mobile Automotive Diagnostic Technician at Pro Fleet Solutions is responsible for diagnosing, testing, and repairing vehicle mechanical, electrical, and drivability concerns. This role requires strong knowledge of automotive systems, the ability to read wiring diagrams, and skill in identifying faults in basic and advanced electrical circuits, including common two-wire and four-wire component setups. This is an advanced technician position focused on accurate diagnostics, quality repairs, and safe, efficient shop operations.

Our garage is located in West Haven, Connecticut and our Mobile Technicians travel to different locations throughout Connecticut.

Pay based on skill set:

Earn What You Produce - Flat Rate Pay Hourly ranges $25 to $45 per billable hour plus bonus

Responsibilities:

    Perform on site diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on commercial and medium duty vehicles, including engines, brakes, electrical systems, suspensions, starters, alternators, transmissions, and more.
  • Perform on-site diagnostic inspections to identify, mechanical, electrical, and drivability issues on commercial and medium-duty vehicles.
  • Use scan tools, multimeters, and other diagnostic equipment to test vehicle systems and verify faults.
  • Read and interpret wiring diagrams, service information, and manufacturer procedures.
  • Diagnose and repair basic and intermediate electrical circuits, sensors, actuators, and related components.
  • Identify issues involving power, ground, reference, and signal circuits, including two-wire and four-wire system configurations.
  • Perform repairs and replacements on defective wiring, connectors, sensors, and electrical components.
  • Verify repairs through retesting, road testing when appropriate, and confirmation of proper system operation.
  • Document findings, repairs performed, recommended services, and parts required.
  • Communicate diagnostic results and repair recommendations clearly to service advisors and management.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area and follow shop safety procedures.
  • Deliver exceptional service by resolving on-site issues efficiently, professionally, and with a focus on customer satisfaction.
  • Manage and maintain a mobile service vehicle stocked with necessary tools, parts, and diagnostic equipment to complete repairs efficiently.
  • Document all services performed, parts used, and customer interactions accurately using Shop Monkey.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and industry standards to ensure a safe working environment for both the technician and customers.
  • Work independently while staying connected to a supportive team for guidance, escalation, and resource coordination.

Skills:

    Strong understanding of automotive electrical diagnostics and circuit testing.Ability to read schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical repair information.Proficiency with diagnostic software, scan tools, and electrical testing equipment.Effective problem-solving, attention to detail, and time-management skills. Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a mobile work environment. Proficiency with digital tools and mobile applications supports accurate documentation and streamlined service delivery.

Minimum Qualifications:

    Two years of mechanical automotive experience required with a strong background with medium-duty vehicles, particularly Freightliner, Ford Transit, and Dodge ProMaster Possession of a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.Toolbox with essential tools.

License:

    Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.Valid automotive technician certification (e.g., ASE certification) or equivalent experience preferred

Preferred Qualifications:

    Previous experience working in a mobile automotive service role.One year of electrical repair experience.

Physical Requirements:

    Ability to lift, carry, and move equipment or vehicle parts up to 50lbs as part of routine repair tasks.Comfortable standing, bending, kneeling, or working in awkward positions for extended periods during diagnostics and repairsAbility to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and snow, when servicing vehicles onsite.Capable of operating hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment safely and effectivelyAdequate vision, hearing, and manual dexterity to perform detailed mechanical and electrical work.Ability to enter, exit, and maneuver around commercial and medium duty vehicles safely.Must be able to drive and operate a mobile service vehicle for extended periods.
