Public Safety Technician – Automotive Electrical Specialist Our Mission

We keep communities safe by ensuring that the vehicles and equipment first responders rely on are always ready for action. The Impact You'll Make

As a Public Safety Technician, you’ll be the go-to expert for installing, diagnosing, and repairing advanced electrical systems in emergency vehicles. Your expertise with automotive electrical systems and Whelen products will help keep critical fleets operational, visible, and reliable—making a tangible difference in the safety of our community.

What You'll Do
  • Install, troubleshoot, and repair automotive electrical systems in police, fire, and EMS vehicles.
  • Configure, mount, and integrate Whelen lighting, siren, and control systems to meet agency specifications.
  • Perform diagnostics using multimeters, wiring diagrams, and manufacturer software tools.
  • Collaborate with fleet managers and public safety officials to ensure vehicles meet operational and compliance standards.
  • Maintain accurate service records and documentation for all work performed.
  • Stay current on new Whelen product lines, installation techniques, and safety protocols.
What You'll Bring
  • Proven experience in automotive electrical systems, including wiring, relays, and control modules.
  • Hands‑on knowledge of Whelen products—installation, programming, and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams and technical manuals.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail under tight deadlines.
  • A commitment to quality workmanship and safety.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to work on‑site in a shop or field environment.
