Automotive Development Group information

What is an automotive development group?

An Automotive Development Group is a team or division within an automotive company that is responsible for designing, engineering, testing, and refining new vehicles or vehicle components. This group collaborates across multiple disciplines, such as mechanical engineering, electronics, software development, and materials science, to bring new automotive technologies and models to market. Their work includes everything from initial concept and prototyping to final production and quality assurance. The goal of an Automotive Development Group is to innovate and ensure vehicles meet safety, performance, and regulatory standards.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in an automotive development group role?

To excel in an Automotive Development Group role, you generally need a background in automotive engineering or a related field, strong problem-solving abilities, and experience with vehicle systems design. Familiarity with technical tools such as CAD software, product lifecycle management (PLM) systems, and relevant certifications (e.g., Six Sigma or ISO standards) is highly valuable. Outstanding teamwork, project management, and communication skills help individuals collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams. These competencies are essential for developing innovative, high-quality automotive products that meet safety, efficiency, and market demands.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals working in an automotive development group and how can they be addressed?

Professionals in an Automotive Development Group often encounter challenges such as managing tight project timelines, coordinating across multidisciplinary teams, and staying updated with rapidly evolving automotive technologies. Effective communication and collaboration with engineering, design, and manufacturing teams are crucial to ensure seamless integration of new features. To address these challenges, team members typically rely on agile project management practices and continuous learning opportunities to keep pace with industry innovations. Proactively seeking feedback and maintaining open lines of communication also help in overcoming obstacles and delivering successful automotive products.

  • Process Development: Establish and refine sales processes that drive success.
  • Team Training: Equip our sales team with the tools and knowledge to handle leads and in-person communications to the highest level of excellence.
  • Accountability: Monitor and ensure adherence to established processes, policies and compliance.
  • Performance Analysis: Collaborate with your Sales Management team to set and track daily, weekly and monthly goals both personally and for your team. Review key performance indicators such as sales volume, response times and lead handling.
  • Feedback & Improvement: Provide constructive feedback to team members, fostering continuous growth.
  • Culture Maintenance: Uphold and promote our positive, family-oriented culture.

What We Offer:

  • Comprehensive Benefits: Including 401(k) with matching, health/vision/dental/life insurance, and paid time off.
  • Competitive Pay Plan: Direct deposit, weekly draw and aggressive bonus based on month-end performance.
  • Consistent Scheduling: Enjoy a predictable work schedule to balance professional and personal life.
  • Growth Opportunities: Room to advance within our organization, with multiple modern storefronts and a non-corporate structure that values your input.
  • Experienced Leadership: Work alongside a tenured Sales Management team dedicated to your success.
  • Community Engagement: Be part of a company deeply involved in the community, building lasting relationships with customers and beyond.

Qualifications:

  • Proven success as a Sales Manager in a franchise dealership
  • Prior experience with both new and used vehicle operations
  • Familiarity with modern CRM tools and DMS platforms
  • Strong leadership skills with a passion for team development
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Focus on accountability, CDI and volume growth
  • Professional grit, determination and a hands-on leadership style
  • Organizational skills are a must – all deals go to our Finance Department 100% completed
