Job Description:
Columbus Technical College is seeking a qualified and experienced individual to serve as a Full-Time Auto Collision Repair Instructor. This position is responsible for providing high-quality classroom and hands-on laboratory instruction in automotive collision repair, refinishing, and related industry practices. The instructor will prepare students for successful careers in the collision repair industry by delivering competency-based instruction aligned with industry standards and workforce needs. This is a full-time/exempt position.
Please note the following information regarding this position:
May be required to teach high school students
May require teaching on or off campus throughout our service delivery area (Muscogee County, Stewart County, Quitman County, Chattahoochee County, Harris County, and Talbot County)
May require travel
Responsibilities:
Provide classroom and hands-on laboratory instruction in Auto Collision Repair, including collision damage assessment, structural repair, refinishing, welding, body repair, and related automotive technologies
Develop and deliver lesson plans, course materials, and assessments aligned with state standards, program outcomes, and industry expectations
Demonstrate proper use of collision repair tools, equipment, materials, and repair techniques
Evaluate student progress in attaining course goals, objectives, competencies, and student learning outcomes
Maintain accurate student records, grades, attendance, and required instructional documentation
Ensure training areas comply with safety, environmental, and security requirements, including proper use of personal protective equipment and shop safety procedures
Maintain and oversee instructional tools, equipment, supplies, and materials; assist with inventory management and budget requests
Stay current with advancements in collision repair technology, vehicle systems, repair procedures, and industry certifications
Assist with maintaining program accreditation, certification requirements, and industry partnerships as appropriate
Provide academic and career guidance to students while addressing issues affecting student progress and success
Collaborate with faculty, staff, industry partners, and advisory committee members to ensure program relevance and workforce alignment
Assist with student recruitment, retention, completion, and employment placement efforts
Participate in faculty development activities, workshops, seminars, conferences, and professional training opportunities
Utilize effective written and oral communication, organization, observation, supervision, and evaluation skills
Utilize computer applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, learning management systems, and other instructional technologies
Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
A diploma, certificate, or associate degree in Auto Collision Repair, Automotive Refinishing, or a closely related field from an accredited college, technical institution, or a recognized training program
A minimum of three (3) years of recent professional work experience in the Auto Collision Repair industry
Demonstrated knowledge and hands-on experience with collision repair processes, including structural and non-structural repairs, vehicle refinishing, welding, damage assessment, estimating, and automotive repair procedures
Knowledge of current automotive collision repair safety practices, equipment operation, and industry standards
Ability to effectively communicate technical concepts and provide hands-on instruction in a classroom and laboratory environment

Preferred Qualifications:
Prior teaching, training, mentoring, or instructional experience in a postsecondary education, technical training, or industry setting
Experience with industry-recognized collision repair standards, certifications, and repair technologies
Current industry certifications (such as I-CAR, ASE, or manufacturer-specific training credentials)
Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to engage and support diverse student populations
Commitment to student success, workforce development, and maintaining current industry practices.
