Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced HIL BMS Engineer with 5+ years of experience in Battery Management Systems, Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing, automotive embedded systems, and battery validation. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience developing and executing HIL test strategies for BMS and low-voltage automotive battery systems, including Li-Ion and ultracapacitor technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, configure, and execute Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) test cases for BMS and battery systems.
  • Perform system-level verification and validation of BMS functionality, performance, diagnostics, and safety features.
  • Develop test plans, test procedures, test scripts, and automated test cases.
  • Validate BMS functions including SOC, SOH, cell balancing, voltage/current/temperature monitoring, fault detection, and protection strategies.
  • Perform fault injection testing and analyze BMS behavior under normal, abnormal, and failure conditions.
  • Integrate BMS hardware and software with HIL simulation environments.
  • Execute testing using automotive communication protocols including CAN and CAN FD.
  • Analyze test results, troubleshoot issues, and support root-cause analysis with cross-functional engineering teams.
  • Support DVP&R, DV/PV testing, system integration, and validation activities.
  • Work closely with software, hardware, systems, battery, and functional safety teams.
  • Support requirements traceability and validation using tools such as Jama, DOORS, or similar requirements management tools.
  • Create detailed test reports, validation documentation, and defect reports.
  • Participate in design reviews, DFMEA activities, failure analysis, and system-level verification.
  • Support compliance with automotive development processes and standards such as ISO 26262, ASPICE, and V-Model methodologies.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in automotive BMS, battery systems, HIL testing, embedded systems validation, or related areas.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing.
  • Experience testing and validating Battery Management Systems (BMS) and automotive energy storage systems.
  • Strong understanding of Li-Ion batteries, battery pack architecture, and battery monitoring functions.
  • Experience with CAN/CAN FD and automotive communication protocols.
  • Experience with HIL tools and environments such as dSPACE, NI, Vector, ETAS, or similar platforms.
  • Experience with CANoe, CANalyzer, CANape, or equivalent automotive testing tools.
  • Strong understanding of embedded software and system-level validation.
  • Experience with test automation and scripting using Python, CAPL, MATLAB/Simulink, or similar tools.
