Job Summary
We're looking for a hands-on Field Service Engineer who's ready to dive into the world of marine and industrial power systems. If you enjoy solving real-world problems, working with your hands, and being the go-to expert when things need fixing or fine-tuning, this might be the role for you.
You'll be installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining everything from motors and switchgear to PLCs and control systems aboard large ocean-going vessels while they're in port. It's a mix of tech, teamwork, and travel, with plenty of variety and challenges to keep things interesting. You'll work closely with customers, vendors, and manufacturers to make sure systems run smoothly and safely. Key Responsibilities
  • Communication between cooperating parties and assist to ensure smooth operation of electrical and mechanical equipment.
  • Performing maintenance including field installation, validation, and testing of electronic, electric and mechanic components.
  • Troubleshooting by observing mechanical devices in operation, listening for problems and using electrical meters, calibration equipment, mobile and handheld computer systems, hand tools, PLC, operator interface, data collection, and safety-related control systems.
  • Remove and replace defective parts by properly dismantling devices using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools, examining form and texture of parts.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with company procedures, rules, and regulations.

Qualifications
  • Electrical Engineering Bachelor's degree or a combination of a relevant certificates, Associate or Technical degree and 4-5 years of relevant work experience.
  • Must possess manual dexterity to operate machinery and repair equipment, with the ability to climb ladders, stairs, and lift at least 40 pounds. Should be self-motivated and capable of working independently.

Skills & Competencies
  • Knowledge of low voltage and line voltage AC and DC systems and relays, high voltage experience including terminations a plus.
  • Basic hydraulic and machine repair knowledge a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills Electrical/Mechanical aptitude, advanced skills in one or more of the following areas a plus: software, electronics, low and high voltage electrical, mechanical and propulsion systems, automation, PLC programming, Ethernet network/Serial communication.
  • Ability to read Schematics.
  • Ability to write reports, effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers.
  • Proficiency in installation, troubleshooting, and commissioning.
  • Ability to collaborate with clients and ensure timely service delivery.
  • Must be an avid user of computer software including Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Working Conditions
  • Working conditions are marine/industrial environments which require the use of company uniform and safety equipment, to include but not limited to safety glasses, hearing protection, steel toe work boots, hardhat and safety vests.
  • Available to work flexible, on-call hours, including varying and unpredictable shift schedules.
  • Regular local travel with occasional international trips as required.

  • Must be able to pass a drug screening and background check upon request for customer site access. A clean driving record is required.
