Job description

Licensing & Certifications

  • Journeyman or Master Electrician license (state-specific)
  • NFPA 70E certification (electrical safety in the workplace)
  • UL 508A certification (industrial control panel wiring) โ€” this is especially important for robotics
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 (general industry)

Technical Skills & Experience

  • Industrial control panel wiring and assembly
  • PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) experience โ€” Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Fanuc, etc.
  • Reading and interpreting electrical schematics and ladder diagrams
  • Low-voltage wiring (24VDC, 120VAC) alongside high-voltage (480V 3-phase)
  • Experience with servo drives, VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives), and motor controls
  • Cable management, wire labeling, and termination to spec
  • Familiarity with robotics brands (FANUC, KUKA, ABB, Universal Robots) is a strong plus

Code & Compliance Knowledge

  • NEC (National Electrical Code) โ€” Articles 409 and 670 specifically cover industrial machinery and panels
  • NFPA 79 (Electrical Standard for Industrial Machinery) โ€” critical for robotics applications
  • CE marking requirements if equipment is exported to Europe

Soft Skills / Work Habits

  • Detail-oriented โ€” panel wiring requires precision and clean workmanship
  • Ability to work from engineering drawings with minimal supervision
