Location: Flexible / Client-Site Based

Compensation: $160,000–$180,000 (DOE) + Quarterly Bonus (3–10%)

About the Role

As a Principal Consultant – Automation Engineering Manager, you will serve as a technical and project leadershipauthority across high-impact engagements in pharmaceutical, biotech, and medical device manufacturing.

You will lead complex automation and engineering programs from concept through qualification and commercialization, guiding clients through scale-up, facility implementation, and operational excellence initiatives. In this role, you will combine deep technical expertise, strategic insight, and client leadership to deliver measurable results.

You will also play a key role in mentoring consultants, influencing client strategy, and shaping best practices across Concuir’s project portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and deliver large, complex capital and/or expense projects, ensuring alignment with scope, schedule, budget, and regulatory requirements
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, influencing engineering, automation, and manufacturing strategies
  • Oversee multiple concurrent projects or programs, with accountability for overall delivery and client satisfaction
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration across process engineering, quality, validation, and operations teams
  • Provide technical leadership in automation systems, process equipment, utilities, and facility integration
  • Lead technology transfers, facility expansions, and process scale-ups for commercial manufacturing
  • Oversee and contribute to cGMP documentation, including change controls, investigations, commissioning, and qualification protocols
  • Review and approve engineering designs, drawings, and specifications
  • Lead troubleshooting, start-up, and performance optimization of manufacturing systems
  • Mentor junior team members and contribute to building Concuir’s high-performing consulting culture

Qualifications

  • 12–15 years of experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical device manufacturing within GAMP5-regulated environments
  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Computer, Chemical, Mechanical, Biomedical, or related discipline
  • Preferred: Master’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Computer, Chemical, Mechanical, Biomedical, or related discipline required; advanced degree a plus)
  • Demonstrated expertise in automation engineering, process systems, and/or facilities & utilities
  • Strong experience leading large-scale capital projects and cross-functional programs
  • Deep understanding of cGMP/cGxP requirements, regulatory expectations, and validation practices
  • Experience with clean utilities (e.g., WFI, RO/DI systems) strongly preferred
  • Proven success managing stakeholders, timelines, budgets, and risk in complex environments
  • Exceptional communication, leadership, and influencing skills
  • Ability to operate as both a strategic thinker and a hands-on technical leader
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor others and elevate team performance
