Job description

JOB DESCRIPTION

As a member of the Controls Rotational Program, the Controls Engineer candidate will go through rotation assignments gaining programming experience, exploring principles for successful automation, and gaining an understanding of the production environment. You will work with plant personnel on projects in Quality, Engineering, & Operations while taking a small project from concept to runoff/support. After the four rotations, you will be equipped with the proper technical knowledge and leadership skills to be a successful Controls Engineer at Lear Corporation.

RESPONSIBILITIES 

Your work will include, but not be limited to:

  • Understand and effectively support all plant controls
  • Gain programming experience with the following interfaces: PLC A/B Controllers, Keyence IV sensors, Cognex Vision, and LPS understanding
  • Work with plant personnel on projects in the following departments: Quality, Engineering, & Operations
  • Develop and implement three Vision Solution projects from start to finish
  • Come up with three ideas that will help benefit the Vision team, and allow the team to grow
  • Understand the differences between control schemes on Build-lines and Ship-lines.
  • Take a small project (or portion of larger) from concept -> runoff/support. (Concept, design, build, debug, runoff, (support))
  • Attend and contribute to Electrical Team meetings.
  • Present 3 new and evolved technologies you see as a benefit to our team.
  • Explore principles for successful automation, including project planning and execution.
  • Improve communication and networking skills by working with integrators and individual plants.
  • Skill, to quickly familiarize with new systems, apply critical thinking, problem solving techniques for troubleshooting.
  • Develop new solutions for automating processes
  • Understand the production environment and needed uptime of equipment
  • Understanding the responsibility of the controls team and others team inside of the plant / responsibilities
  • Writing shift reports and communication to the other teams and shifts
  • Management of a stressful situation and still being able to provide the needed support and solutions

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Mechatronics, Controls, Electrical or Software Engineering 
  • Must be a self-starter, team player, work well with others, and have a positive attitude
  • Must be a creative thinker, results oriented, focused, and attentive to detail and accuracy
  • Knowledgeable of I/O link, AB components, drive control, Keyence cameras
  • Must have ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines
  • Understand and communicate applicable safety standards: general industry, machine guarding, robot safety, automated vehicles, conveyor safety
  • Self-driven and willingness to work long hours during installations, if required
