Job description

GFT is seeking an Automation and Control Technician (Panel shop)  to join our Building and Places Business Group in Mechanicsburg PA!

This role follows requiring regular attendance at our Mechanicsburg PA office.

What you'll be challenged to do:

This is an excellent career opportunity for an experienced, motivated Entry Level Automation and Control Technician who thrives in a collaborative team environment. The role highlights a customer-focused mindset and a passion for delivering exceptional quality and results on every project.

In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • PLC programming using IEC 61131 standards
  • Understanding and translation of PLC control and hardwired relay panel design drawings and BOMs
  • Knowledge of all major communication and I/O protocols
  • HMI programming development
  • Ability to understand control narratives and translate into field programming
  • Conduct factory and field testing of automation systems
  • Panel fabrication in a UL certified environment
  • Field wiring & troubleshooting experience for small to complex control systems

What you will bring to our firm: 

  • Minimum Associates Degree in engineering or related technical discipline.
  • Progressive experience in automation and controls
  • Understanding the creation of quality technical solutions and the design delivery of major automation projects.
  • Must be familiar with UL 508A standards
  • Familiar with AB Rockwell Automation, GE, Modicon, and Control Microsystems PLC platforms 
  • Familiar with GE, Rockwell Automation, Wonderware HMI / SCADA  and OIT platforms
  • Familiar with Win911, RACO alarm dialer systems
  • Familiar with RSLinx, Kepserver, Archestra
  • Familiar with Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Familiar with Microsoft SQL server 
  • Familiar with Autodesk AutoCAD and modeling applications
  • Ability to be onsite and travel to client locations as project assignments require in the central PA region.
  • Strong communication skills
  • Will regularly interface with clients and multidisciplinary project team members
  • Must have a positive attitude to excellence, continual improvement, and innovation
  • Must be physically capable of lifting 50 lbs.
  • Must be proficient using electrical hand tools including multi meters and have industrial control system trouble shooting skills

  • Industrial networking, routing, and firewalls is a plus

Compensation:

The range for this position is salary range is $55,000 - $75,000. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
