Job description

Job Description:
Founded in 1904, ESAB Corporation is a premier narrowly diversified global leader in connected fabrication technology and gas control solutions. Our rich history of innovative products, workflow solutions, and business system, ESAB Business Excellence, enables our purpose of Shaping the World We Imagineโ„ข.
We are looking to hire a Technical Application Engineer, Robotics to support our ESAB product line, based in Denton, TX.
About the Role
Reporting to the Robotics sales director, the Technical Application Engineer, Robotics is a field-oriented technical role with two practical areas of focus. The first is supporting ESAB's network of system integrators helping them successfully apply, install, and support ESAB robotic welding solutions.
The second is delivering hands-on technical services directly when integrators are unavailable, not yet in place, or when a situation calls for direct ESAB involvement.
This is a practical, field-based role. You will spend time on customer floors, at integrator sites, and working remotely to keep systems running and customers supported.
As the integrator network grows and matures, the balance of the role will naturally shift toward more partner-facing activities but for now, both direct and integrator-facing work are a real and regular part of the job.
Key Responsibilities:
Integrator Support
  • Act as technical contact for ESAB's system integrators, supporting them through the sales, installation, and commissioning process.
  • Provide technical guidance on product selection, system configuration, and application setup.
  • Review integrator proposals and system designs to ensure alignment with ESAB standards and customer requirements.
  • Support integrators during customer demonstrations, FATs, and SATs where additional technical input is needed.
  • Deliver technical training to integrator teams on ESAB robotic welding systems.
  • Provide remote and occasional on-site troubleshooting support to help integrators resolve application issues.

Direct Technical Services
  • Install, commission, and validate robotic welding systems at customer sites when no integrator is available or when the situation calls for direct ESAB support.
  • Provide on-site and remote technical support to end customers, diagnosing and resolving mechanical, electrical, and software issues.
  • Perform system checks, preventative maintenance, and repairs as needed.
  • Conduct operator and maintenance training for customer personnel as part of service engagements.
  • Carry out FAT and SAT processes at customer and integrator sites.

Pre-Sales & Application Support
  • Work alongside the sales team as a technical resource during customer visits, needs assessments, and solution reviews.
  • Help configure ESAB solutions to meet specific customer production requirements.
  • Support product demonstrations and technical validations, either directly or in coordination with integrators.
  • Provide technical input to support key account opportunities, including RDS offerings.

Product Feedback & Improvement
  • Share field observations and customer feedback with ESAB's Service Support & Training team to support product improvement.
  • Assist with new product introductions through field testing and early deployment support.
  • Support ESAB military approvals across relevant filler metal product lines.
  • Work with the ESAB quality team on filler metal tested orders, providing application-level input.
  • Keep technical documentation, service guides, and application notes up to date.

Qualifications:
Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Robotics, or related field) or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a technical field role involving robotic systems, welding equipment, or industrial automation.
  • Working knowledge of welding processes (e.g., GMAW, GTAW).
  • Familiarity with robotics programming, control systems, and basic electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to work through issues independently.
  • Clear communicator, comfortable working with both technical teams and customers.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

Preferred:
  • Experience working with or alongside channel partners, dealers, or system integrators.
  • PLC programming or broader industrial automation experience.
  • Welding certification or hands-on welding background.
  • Multilingual skills are an advantage.

Working Conditions:
  • Regular travel to integrator and customer sites, often requiring overnight stays; greater than 50% travel expected.
  • Physical demands include ascending/descending stairs, walking, stooping, and standing for extended periods.
  • Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when working in or visiting manufacturing and plant locations.
  • Moves, transports, or removes equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.; pushes and pulls products weighing up to 200 lbs. using provided safety tools.
  • May be exposed to varying weather conditions during travel.
