The Role: Accounting Manager
The Accounting Manager leads key general accounting processes and helps ensure the integrity of Switch's financial records. This role oversees assigned areas of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close, including revenue and lease accounting, and supports timely, accurate financial reporting in accordance with U.S. GAAP and SOX requirements.
You will review complex accounting work, research technical matters, strengthen processes and controls, and partner with teams across the business to ensure transactions are reflected accurately in the financial statements. You will also supervise and develop members of the General Accounting team. This position reports to the Assistant Controller.
What You'll Do
  • Lead assigned areas of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close, ensuring work is complete, accurate, and delivered on schedule.
  • Review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting documentation for accruals, prepaid expenses, revenue, leases, intercompany activity, and other general ledger accounts.
  • Oversee revenue accounting activities and ensure compliance with ASC 606.
  • Review lease accounting transactions and related journal entries in accordance with ASC 842.
  • Analyze financial results, investigate fluctuations, and identify trends, risks, or issues requiring management attention.
  • Review balance sheet reconciliations and ensure reconciling items are resolved promptly.
  • Execute and monitor internal controls, maintain supporting documentation, and ensure compliance with SOX requirements.
  • Research and document accounting conclusions under U.S. GAAP for complex, unusual, or non-routine transactions.
  • Prepare or support technical accounting memoranda and position papers for significant accounting matters.
  • Evaluate the impact of new accounting standards and support their implementation.
  • Prepare schedules and documentation for quarterly reviews, annual audits, and other reporting requirements.
  • Partner with Finance and business teams to ensure transactions and operating activities are reflected accurately in the financial statements.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes through automation, system enhancements, and clearer procedures.
  • Support the implementation of accounting systems, policies, and controls.
  • Supervise, coach, and develop Staff and Senior Accountants through regular feedback, training, mentoring, and work review.
  • Review team output for accuracy and completeness and address process or control gaps.
  • Complete special projects, technical accounting research, and ad hoc analysis as assigned.

What We're Looking For
  • You apply sound judgment when evaluating accounting issues and making recommendations.
  • You communicate technical accounting matters clearly to finance and non-finance stakeholders.
  • You set clear expectations, review work carefully, and provide useful feedback.
  • You take ownership of deadlines, follow through on open items, and raise risks early.
  • You balance attention to detail with the ability to identify broader financial and operational implications.
  • You build productive working relationships across teams while maintaining appropriate accounting discipline.
  • You look for practical ways to improve processes, controls, and reporting quality.
  • You support team development through consistent coaching, accountability, and knowledge sharing.
What You'll Bring
Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Active CPA license.
  • Six or more years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP.
  • Experience applying ASC 606 and ASC 842.
  • Experience preparing technical accounting analyses, memoranda, or position papers.
  • Strong understanding of month-end close, financial reporting, journal entries, and account reconciliation practices.
  • Experience with SOX compliance and internal control frameworks.
  • Experience reviewing the work of other accounting professionals.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach and develop accounting team members.
  • Experience using enterprise resource planning systems.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Preferred
  • Public accounting experience.
  • Experience working for a publicly traded company.
  • Oracle Fusion Cloud experience.
