Overview

GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION:ย ย ย ย ย ย ย 

Under the general supervision of the Manager or designee, the Automated Equipment Technician is responsible for the testing, installation, operation, repair, and maintenance of equipment such reverse osmosis systems (RO), sterilizers, glasswashers, power operated doors including revolving doors and other electronic door systems.

Responsibilities

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for the performance of preventative and corrective maintenance including inspections, testing, and repairs on all equipment systems including RO's, sterilizers, glasswashers, power operated electrical doors, washing and drying equipment, totes, lifts, various switches, assisting with alarm systems, and a multitude of kitchen and animal quarters equipment.
  • Adheres to set checkpoints and due dates.
  • Keep accurate records, document procedures, work activities, and daily events.
  • Use of delicate measuring devices
  • Must be able to usecomputerized maintenance management system (CMMS)for work assignments and or performing tasks and recording time and work completion
  • Researching parts.
  • Attend all required trainings.
  • Assist in installation of equipment systems and components of electronics as directed.
  • Assist in monitoring activities of any outside contractors.
  • Interface with other departments to assure work is completed with the least possible disruption to UMass Chan.
  • Conform to all codes, rules, regulations, and safety standards associated with the trade
  • Maintain proper safety measures
  • Work from technical manuals, drawings, sketches, service manuals, and similar documents
  • Maintain drawings and manuals of all electronic systems, update manuals, and maintain equipment files
  • Ability to use delicate measuring devices
  • While in the performance of routine duties may be required, as needed to perform all work associated with all maintenance trades of an equal or lower graded classification, where the work or task does not require a specific license.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associates degree in Electronics, or Trade School diploma, equivalent experience
  • 3 years' experience working on automated equipment systems.
  • Experience with microprocessors and PLC boards.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of NFPA Life Safety, ANSI, and other applicable codes.
  • Ability to read schematics, interpret drawings, sketches, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Ability to operate all test equipment associated with the maintenance of electronic equipment
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Thorough knowledge of hazards and safety precautions particular to trade.
  • Ability to travel to off-site locations
