Job description

Overview:
This position is responsible for creating and maintaining ATA case designs using Autodesk Inventor and iLogic automation tools. The CAD Engineer will develop and manage design templates, produce production drawings, and support the Sales, Project Management, and Manufacturing teams with efficient and accurate design solutions. This role also provides technical guidance and coordination within the engineering team and reports to the Engineering Manager.
Essential Functions:

  • Create and maintain 3D models and production drawings using Autodesk Inventor.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve iLogic rules and configurable design templates to streamline engineering processes.
  • Produce assembly drawings, fabrication drawings, and bills of material for production.
  • Create rough layouts and concept drawings to support sales quotations and customer requirements.
  • Manage and organize CAD files, libraries, templates, and engineering documentation.
  • Review designs for manufacturability, accuracy, and compliance with project requirements.
  • Work closely with project managers, production personnel, and suppliers to resolve design issues.
  • Support prototype development and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Provide technical assistance, leadership, and guidance to members of the engineering and CAD team.
  • Assist with assigning priorities and coordinating workflow within the CAD department.
  • Leading engineering projects and support training of new personnel.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Competencies:
  • Advanced proficiency with Autodesk Inventor and related CAD tools.
  • Experience creating and maintaining iLogic rules, configurable assemblies, and design templates.
  • Knowledge of standard drafting practices and manufacturing methods.
  • Experience designing with plywood, plastics, aluminum, steel, and related materials.
  • Ability to create designs from verbal instructions, sketches, and customer requirements.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Work Environment:
Work is regularly performed in a combination of office and warehouse environments and is regularly exposed to heavy machinery and noise.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position may need to sit or stand as needed and may require walking primarily on a level surface for periodic periods throughout the day. Reaching above shoulder heights, below the waist, or lifting as required using proper lifting techniques. The position may require the ability to lift no more than 10 lbs. at a time. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position with an expectation to work 40 hours per week. Must be available to work overtime as needed.

Required Education and Experience:
  • 3+ years of experience using Autodesk Inventor.
  • Experience creating and maintaining iLogic templates and automation routines.
  • 3+ years of manufacturing or product design experience.
  • High School Diploma or GED.

Preferred Education and Experience:
  • 5+ years of Autodesk Inventor experience.
  • Associate degree or certification in Engineering Technology, CAD, or a related field.
  • Experience in cabinetry, ATA cases, woodworking, sheet metal, or industrial product design.
  • Previous experience coordinating projects or leading small engineering teams.
