Reports To: General Manager / Executive Leadership


Position Overview

The Manager role at Tom Wood Auto Group is a key leadership position responsible for driving performance, developing teams, and delivering an exceptional customer experience within their department. Whether leading Sales, Service, or Finance & Insurance operations, Managers are expected to model Tom Wood’s Core Values while achieving operational, financial, and customer satisfaction goals.

This role requires a hands‑on leader who can balance people development, process execution, and performance accountability in a fast‑paced dealership environment.


Key Responsibilities Leadership & Team Development
  • Lead, coach, and develop department team members to achieve individual and departmental goals
  • Foster a positive, accountable, and performance‑driven culture
  • Conduct regular coaching sessions, performance reviews, and corrective actions as needed
  • Participate in hiring, onboarding, training, and retention efforts
Operations & Performance Management
  • Oversee day‑to‑day departmental operations to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and compliance
  • Ensure adherence to dealership processes, manufacturer standards, and company policies
  • Monitor KPIs and financial performance, taking action to correct gaps and improve results
  • Collaborate with other department leaders to create a seamless customer experience
Customer Experience
  • Ensure customers receive a transparent, professional, and ethical experience
  • Handle escalated customer concerns and resolve issues promptly and professionally
  • Maintain high CSI, survey scores, and online reputation standards
Compliance & Risk Management
  • Ensure compliance with all state, federal, and manufacturer regulations

  • Support audits and ensure department readiness at all times

Department‑Specific Focus Areas Sales Manager
  • Drive new and used vehicle sales performance
  • Coach sales team on process, product knowledge, and closing techniques
  • Manage inventory, pricing strategies, and manufacturer programs
Service Manager
  • Oversee service operations, workflow, and technician productivity
  • Ensure quality repairs, efficient scheduling, and strong service communication
  • Maintain safety standards and shop compliance
F&I Manager
  • Manage finance and insurance product offerings and profitability
  • Ensure compliance with all lending, title, and disclosure requirements
  • Deliver a transparent, customer‑focused F&I experience

Qualifications & Experience
  • Previous leadership or management experience in automotive dealership operations
  • Strong understanding of department‑specific processes (Sales, Service, or F&I)
  • Proven ability to lead, coach, and hold teams accountable
  • Strong communication, organization, and decision‑making skills
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable motor vehicle record

Preferred Qualifications
  • Multi‑department dealership experience
  • Manufacturer certification(s)
  • Experience with dealership management systems (CDK, Reynolds, or similar)
  • Demonstrated success in performance improvement and team development
