Job description

The Used Car Buyer is responsible for sourcing, evaluating, and purchasing pre-owned vehicles to maintain a competitive and profitable inventory across the dealership group. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the right mix of vehicles is available to meet customer demand while maximizing gross profit.
Responsibilities
  • Source used vehicle inventory through auctions, trade-ins, private sellers, and online marketplaces
  • Evaluate vehicles for condition, market value, and resale potential
  • Negotiate purchase prices to ensure profitability and alignment with dealership goals
  • Monitor market trends, pricing guides, and competitor inventory
  • Work closely with Sales Managers to identify inventory needs and gaps
  • Manage vehicle acquisition process from purchase through delivery
  • Ensure all purchased vehicles meet company standards and compliance requirements
  • Maintain strong relationships with auction representatives, wholesalers, and vendors
  • Track and report on inventory performance, turn rates, and gross profit

Qualifications
  • Previous automotive buying, sales, or appraisal experience preferred
  • Strong negotiation and decision-making skills
  • Knowledge of used vehicle market trends, pricing tools, and valuation methods
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple purchases simultaneously
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
