Job Description:
Berklee College of Music and Boston Conservatory at Berklee are looking for a high-energy, tech-savvy, and hospitality-minded Assistant Director of Admissions, Auditions, and Interviews. In this role, you aren't just managing a process; you are the architect of the first major milestone in a young artist's career. From coordinating global "On The Road" auditions to mastering the technical flow of online Zoom events, you will ensure every applicant receives red-carpet VIP treatment. At Berklee, your work directly supports the next generation of creative leaders.
The Role: Architect of the Applicant Journey
Reporting to the Associate Director, you will oversee the operational logistics and communications that power our world-renowned audition and interview (A&I) program. You will lead the charge to streamline procedures through technology while maintaining the personal "human" touch that Berklee is known for.
Key Responsibilities:
Audition Events & Logistics:
  • Global Operations: Coordinate and oversee operations for A&I events held on campus, on the road, and online. You'll manage contracts, invoices, and financial records for domestic and international trips.
  • Technical Leadership: Serve as the primary technical resource for online auditions, leveraging Zoom to connect with talent across the globe.
  • Data-Driven Strategy: Conduct A&I ROI reporting, analyzing cost-per-matriculant and evaluation ratings to refine our recruitment strategies.
  • Team Management: Hire, train, and supervise a team of student workers and temporary staff to ensure seamless event execution.

Event Management & Facilitation:
  • Logistics Mastery: Prepare all materials for on-campus events, from sight-reading books to catering and vendor set-up.
  • Database Management: Utilize Salesforce, FormAssembly, and Filemaker Pro to manage A&I databases and generate actionable reports.
  • Internal Collaboration: Partner with faculty, Public Safety, and Enrollment Marketing to ensure all stakeholders-from alumni to prospective students-have an optimal experience.

World-Class Customer Service:
  • Admissions Counseling: Act as a primary point of contact for families, counseling them on audition formats, scholarship eligibility, financial aid, and the full admissions lifecycle.
  • The VIP Experience: Ensure the applicant experience exceeds that of any competing institution through proactive relationship building and professional empathy.

What You'll Bring
We are looking for a self-motivated professional with an entrepreneurial spirit and a deep appreciation for the performing arts.
  • Experience: 1-3 years of relatable experience in admissions, event management, or customer service.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Salesforce and Zoom is highly preferred. You should be comfortable acting as a technical troubleshooter during high-stakes events.
  • Organizational Prowess: Strong administrative and time-management skills; you thrive when managing multiple moving parts simultaneously.
  • Communication: Articulate and professional written and oral communication skills, with the maturity to handle sensitive student counseling issues.
  • Music Background: Music training and experience are strongly preferred, as you will be communicating daily with talented musicians and faculty.

Why Berklee?

  • Mission-Driven Culture: Work in a vibrant environment where creativity and innovation are at the core of everything we do.
  • Cultural Access: Enjoy nightly access to world-class music, theater, and dance performances right on campus.
  • Comprehensive Benefits: Top-tier health, dental, and life insurance, plus a 403(b) retirement plan with matching contributions.
  • Generous Time Off: Extensive PTO and paid holidays, including a paid winter break to recharge.
  • Tuition Benefits: Free or discounted courses for you and your family.
