Terran Orbital is seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician (DoD Skillbridge Program) to join our dynamic team. Reporting to the Facilities Manager, the Maintenance Technician (DoD Skillbridge Program) will join our Facility Operations team for an internship that bridges military experience with civilian maintenance careers. The program provides a structured, hands‑on training curriculum that builds proficiency across HVAC, electrical, plumbing, general building upkeep, and specialized aerospace equipment (air compressors, vacuum systems, environmental test units). Interns will learn to manage work orders, coordinate vendors, maintain accurate logs, and work safely in cleanroom and production environments, preparing them for immediate employment in aerospace, defense, or facilities‑management roles.

Application Notice
This position is exclusively available for active-duty military personnel who are approved by their Chain of Command to participate in the DoD Skillbridge program. Applicants must be approved for 120 days of internship time exclusive of terminal leave. Please note that this is an unpaid internship opportunity through the DoD Skillbridge program, and no compensation is provided by Terran Orbital.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and minor repairs on HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and building systems.
  • Service specialty equipment (air compressors, vacuum systems, environmental test units).
  • Follow cleanroom and lab protocols while conducting maintenance tasks.
  • Create, prioritize, and close work orders; maintain accurate logs and inspection records.
  • Coordinate with vendors/contractors, verify work compliance, and manage safety documentation.
  • Support production floor operations with minimal downtime and proper safety procedures.
  • Conduct site inspections, identify hazards, and submit corrective action reports.
  • Participate in the capstone facility inspection & PM audit, presenting findings to supervision.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Active-duty service member eligible for the SkillBridge program; 24 week full time availability.
  • High school diploma/GED; technical coursework or certifications in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or facilities maintenance preferred.
  • Basic hands-on knowledge of HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems; ability to read schematics and use hand/power tools.
  • Understanding of safety practices: LOTO, PPE, cleanroom protocols, and OSHA/EPA standards.
  • Strong communication (written work order documentation, vendor interaction) and teamwork skills.
  • Effective problem solving and troubleshooting across multiple trades.
  • Good organization; experience with CMMS or similar work order software.
  • Physical ability to lift ≥ 50 lb, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.
  • Security clearance eligibility and any additional certifications (e.g., EPA Universal, OSHA 10) are a plus.
