Work Environmentย 

This is an on-site leadership role within a luxury hotel or resort where Five-Star AudioVisual operates as an embedded audiovisual partner. Directors work closely with hotel leadership, sales, catering, and event teams to ensure events run smoothly from planning through execution. You represent both Five-Star AudioVisual and the hotel with professionalism, technical confidence, and hospitality-first service.ย 

Reports to: Regional Directorย 

Position Summaryย 

The Director, AudioVisual is responsible for leading the in-house audiovisual operation at an assigned hotel or resort. This role oversees daily operations, revenue performance, team leadership, and client satisfaction, ensuring every event is delivered with technical excellence and thoughtful service.ย 

The Director serves as a trusted partner to hotel leadership and a hands-on leader for the AV team; balancing strategy with execution while driving service quality, team development, and financial performance.ย 

Key Responsibilitiesย 

Audiovisual Operationsย 

  • Oversee all daily AV operations including event setup, strike, scheduling, and equipment maintenanceย 

  • Ensure events are executed smoothly, safely, and to Five-Star and hotel standardsย 

  • Manage inventory, storage, transportation, and proper use of audiovisual equipmentย 

  • Maintain consistent technical quality across meetings, conferences, and live eventsย 

  • Ensure accurate billing, approvals, and compliance with company financial proceduresย 

  • Uphold a polished, professional appearance for yourself and the AV teamย 

  • Serve as the primary point of contact between Five-Star AudioVisual and hotel leadershipย 

Sales & Revenue Performanceย 

  • Partner with hotel sales and catering teams to support group business and maximize AV revenueย 

  • Consult with clients to understand event goals and recommend appropriate technology solutionsย 

  • Identify opportunities to enhance events through creative AV design and upsellingย 

  • Prepare clear, accurate proposals that outline scope, pricing, and technical detailsย 

  • Forecast revenue and track performance metrics in collaboration with regional leadershipย 

  • Represent Five-Star AudioVisual during site visits, pre-conference meetings, and hotel walkthroughsย 

Client & Guest Experienceย 

  • Act as a visible leader during events, ensuring clients feel supported and confidentย 

  • Build strong relationships with planners, hotel partners, and repeat clientsย 

  • Proactively address challenges and resolve issues with professionalism and urgencyย 

  • Maintain Five-Starโ€™s reputation for reliability, hospitality, and technical excellenceย 

Team Leadership & Developmentย 

  • Lead, train, and mentor the on-site audiovisual teamย 

  • Create a positive, respectful, and performance-driven work environmentย 

  • Manage staffing, scheduling, and performance feedbackย 

  • Support ongoing technical training and professional developmentย 

  • Ensure team members are proficient with company software and event systemsย 

  • Lead by example with integrity, accountability, and enthusiasmย 

Requirementsย ย 
  • 4+ years of experience in audiovisual management, event technology, or hospitality AV operationsย 

  • Proven experience leading AV teams in a hotel, resort, or live event environmentย 

  • Strong understanding of AV systems, signal flow, and event production workflowsย 

  • Demonstrated success in sales support, client consultation, and revenue growthย 

  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skillsย 

  • Proficiency with AV management platforms and Microsoft Office Suiteย 

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in hospitality, business, event management, or related field preferredย 

  • AV certifications or technical coursework a plusย
