What does an audio visual production intern do?

An Audio Visual Production Intern assists with the setup, operation, and breakdown of audio and video equipment for various events or productions. Their responsibilities often include helping with camera work, lighting, sound checks, equipment maintenance, and sometimes post-production editing. Interns gain hands-on experience by supporting experienced AV technicians and producers, learning how to troubleshoot technical issues and ensure high-quality production standards are met. This internship provides valuable exposure to the technical and creative aspects of the audio-visual industry.

What types of projects and responsibilities can an audio visual production intern expect during their internship?

As an Audio Visual Production Intern, you can expect to assist with a range of tasks including setting up and operating camera, lighting, and audio equipment, editing video and audio content, and supporting live event production. Interns often work closely with producers, editors, and technical staff, gaining hands-on experience with industry-standard tools and software. This role offers valuable exposure to the full production process, from pre-production planning to post-production editing, and frequently involves collaborating with creative teams to bring visual concepts to life.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an audio visual production intern, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Audio Visual Production Intern, you need a foundational understanding of video and audio production principles, often supported by coursework or hands-on experience. Familiarity with editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, and basic knowledge of camera and sound equipment are typically required. Strong teamwork, communication skills, and a willingness to learn help interns collaborate effectively and adapt to fast-paced production environments. These skills and qualities ensure high-quality content creation and smooth project execution in dynamic AV settings.
