We deliver integrated technology solutions for environments including higher education, healthcare, K-12 schools, municipal facilities, boardrooms, classrooms, theaters, and modern collaboration spaces.


We are seeking an experienced Sales Engineer – Audio Visual (AV) to join our growing team. This role is ideal for someone who understands AV systems design, enjoys working directly with clients, and can bridge technical expertise with business development.


Position Overview

The Sales Engineer will partner with clients and internal teams to assess project needs, develop system recommendations, prepare proposals, and support the sales process from discovery through handoff. This individual must be comfortable walking job sites, identifying customer needs, creating conceptual designs, and translating technical requirements into practical AV solutions.


This is a full-time, in-office role based in the Chicago area with travel throughout the city and surrounding counties as needed.


Key Responsibilities

  • Meet with prospective and existing clients to evaluate project requirements and recommend AV solutions
  • Conduct on-site assessments of boardrooms, classrooms, theaters, conference rooms, and collaboration spaces
  • Develop system concepts using platforms such as Q-SYS, Crestron, Biamp, and Shure
  • Produce signal flow diagrams, system layouts, and supporting design documentation
  • Review architectural drawings, floorplans, and construction documents
  • Estimate labor, cabling, materials, and manpower requirements for installations
  • Prepare proposals, scopes of work, and customer-facing presentations
  • Coordinate with project managers, installation teams, and programmers during project execution
  • Produce as-built documentation at project completion
  • Maintain strong customer relationships and identify additional opportunities for growth


Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in AV systems sales, engineering, estimating, or design
  • Strong knowledge of commercial AV systems and industry best practices
  • Experience with Q-SYS, Crestron, Biamp, Shure, or similar platforms
  • Ability to read blueprints, drawings, and construction documents
  • Understanding of cabling infrastructure, labor planning, and installation workflows
  • Ability to create signal flow diagrams and technical documentation
  • Strong communication and client-facing presentation skills
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation


Preferred Qualifications

  • CTS certification (preferred, not required)
  • Experience supporting higher education, healthcare, K-12, or municipal clients
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Teams Rooms, Zoom Rooms, and hybrid meeting technologies
  • Experience producing as-built drawings/documentation
