Job Summary
The University of North Georgia and the department of Audiovisual Event Services (AVES) is currently accepting applications for the Audio/Visual Event Technician I - student worker. This position is designed to provide hands-on experience in delivering fast, friendly, and dependable audio/visual services for live events on the UNG Gainesville campus. As an A/V student worker, you will assist with the setup, operation, and breakdown of professional A/V equipment, support real campus events, and develop valuable technical and professional skills through mentorship and real-world application.
Responsibilities
  • Set up, troubleshoot, operate, support, and break down audio/visual equipment including but not limited to audio mixers, cameras, microphones, projectors, etc.
  • Troubleshoot common technical issues in real-time environments.
  • Collaborate with the Strategic Communications and Marketing (SC&M) team.
  • Work and assist with specialty events like the President's Gathering of Generals, holiday luncheons, and student events.
  • The AV student worker performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Basic understanding of A/V technology and event production.
  • Familiarity with DSLR cameras and/or sound equipment (analog or digital).
  • Customer service skills.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to both move around campus and work in a regular office setting.
  • Ability to multi-task, manage workload, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule which may include weekends and evenings when requested.
  • Ability to move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.

Required Qualifications
  • Must be enrolled at the University of North Georgia in the minimum of six (6) credit hours to qualify as a student worker.
  • Students with coursework in media, communication, film, broadcasting, or similar areas are encouraged to apply.
