St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church is in Western Arvada, near the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. With the courage of St. Joan of Arc, we exist to lead souls, through love or battle, to Christ the True King.


THE POSITION: The Audio-Visual Technician is a part-time/non-benefit eligible position, responsible for working the sound board during Catholic Masses and other parish events, producing live recordings, setting up equipment for weekend and special Masses (and striking afterwards), managing the sound team and equipment, recruiting and training new volunteers, and ensuring the best audio quality.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • 1-2 weekly Masses (Sunday morning) and other special Masses throughout the year as needed
  • Set up and strike the mics for masses as needed
  • Keep the sound booth organized
  • Maintain inventory of equipment and fix or request approval to replace damaged items
  • Run the Sound Board
  • Mix down, and in a timely fashion, email homilies (weekly) and music recordings (special events)
  • Work sound board for special parish masses and events, such as weekday (evening) Masses on church feasts and holidays, and annual parish festivals
  • Provide a clear mix during religious services to both the pews and the musicians
  • Ability to work well with clergy, staff, and team of volunteers
  • Perform any other duties or special projects assigned by direct supervisors and priests
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent training
  • Working knowledge of digital consoles
  • Working knowledge of the Catholic Mass, or ability to learn quickly
  • Live production competency, including ability to troubleshoot and fix sound problems on the spot
  • Ability to mix down and provide recordings (weekly)
  • Knowledge of the DSP we use to route the board signal to the speakers, preferred
  • Must be in the communion of the Catholic Church and intentionally living out the five precepts of the Church (CCC 2041-2043)
  • Must refrain from promotion of, or the living out of, any conduct or lifestyle that would reflect discredit or disgrace on, or cause scandal in relationship to, the Archdiocese of Denver, or considered to be in contradiction with Catholic doctrine or morals
  • Availability to work weekends, evenings, and holidays/Holy Days, as needed (i.e., Christmas and Easter)
  • Ability to communicate clearly and promptly
  • Excellent attention to detail
