Job description

We're looking for an experienced sound designer to join our Uber Wins studio in Reno, NV. This role plays a crucial part in our mission to deliver world-class gaming experiences and compete in a rapidly evolving industry. The Sound Designer is responsible for composing music, crafting sound effects, designing audio, and recording voiceovers for use in games and marketing materials. This position works closely with artists, animators, game designers, and software developers to build immersive and entertaining games.
Job Requirements
  • Intermediate to Sophisticated level in Music Composition, Sound Design, and Audio Engineering.
  • Coordinate with professionals in animation, game composition, and software development to build and implement audio.
  • Use sound to bring games to life creatively.
  • Work closely with Lead Audio Designer to develop creative, technical, and professional skills.
  • Maintain organized project files and asset storage.
  • Detect, resolve, and prevent audio issues in games.
  • Deliver high-quality audio assets on schedule.
  • Lead deliverables of multiple projects at once.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Music, Audio, Sound Design, or similar.
  • 5 years experience with a major Digital Audio Workstation: Logic Pro, Sonar, Cubase, or Pro Tools
  • Ability to compose music in a wide variety of styles such as but not limited to:
    • Chinese, Japanese, Caribbean, Mariachi, Middle Eastern, African, Indian, Native American, European Ethnic Folk Music, Epic Fantasy, Vintage American 50s-60s
  • Extensive understanding of music theory
  • Ability to receive mentorship and integrate feedback.
  • Proficiency in a pro-level digital audio workstation, preferably Logic.
  • Strong knowledge of recording process and signal chain setup
  • Ability to mix in stereo and 5.1
  • Proficiency in at least one musical instrument, ideally piano and/or guitar.
  • Experience crafting sound for video/animation.
  • Experience with audio editing software such as Sound Forge, or Wavelab, Logic, Ableton or Protools
  • Experience recording and editing actual musician recordings
  • Experience recording, producing, and editing voice overs
  • Experience with Jira, Perforce, FMOD, Outlook, and Excel is a plus.
  • Previous experience in the gaming industry is a plus.
  • Must have the ability to speak, read, and understand English
  • Must be able to work in a team environment as well as independently.

Pay Range
$70,000 - $130,000 per year
Our goal is to pay a market competitive salary focusing near the median of our pay ranges. However, final offers for all positions will be based on several factors such as experience level, education, skills, work location, and internal pay equity.
