Position Overview
Reporting to and supporting the Multimedia Manager, the Multimedia Technician will assist in the maintenance and operation of audio/visual, lighting, and other multimedia systems.
Essential Job Functions
  1. Assist in the installation of all exhibition multimedia installations.
  1. Assist in the set-up and support of all Audio/Visual equipment at meetings and events in the Museum.
  1. Maintain, troubleshoot, and assist in repair and upgrade of all audio/visual systems.
  1. Keep accurate inventory of all audio/visual equipment.
  1. Maintain audio/visual equipment documentation and maintenance records system, as well as training guides for the Museum.
  1. Maintain high degree of uptime on all audio/visual equipment.
  1. Assists in maintaining and operating lighting control systems, including theatrical lighting throughout the Museum and outside on the grounds, as well as assisting with special lighting for events, lectures, concerts, and galas.
  1. Assist as needed with production of video and audio recording, and photography.
  2. Performs other duties as required.
Requirements:
- Must have flexible working hours to accommodate Museum events and programs. Some nights, weekends, and on-call duty required.
- Proficient with Mac OS platform and MS Office
- Experience setting up, mixing, and recording live performances, lectures, and audio interviews
- Familiarity with various cameras and lenses, including Sony camcorders and Canon DSLR cameras
- Ability to work in a rapidly changing environment on multiple, ongoing projects
Other Skills:
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
- 40’ Genie Lift operation required
- Knowledge of Final Cut Studio, Adobe Creative Suite, including Premiere, After Effects and Lightroom
- Knowledge of audio editing software preferred.
- Familiarity and experience with live sound equipment, such as microphones (wired and wireless) and soundboards.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, Communications or related preferred.
Work Experience:
A minimum of four years’ experience in audio/visual set-up, operation and maintenance is required.
