FOX News Media is seeking an experienced Lead Audio Operator to support live studio broadcasts, remote productions, and breaking news coverage. In this role, you'll be responsible for mixing and managing broadcast audio, maintaining intercom and audio systems, and ensuring every broadcast delivers clear, consistent, and high-quality sound. You'll work closely with production, engineering, and technical teams while helping mentor and support other audio operators in a fast-paced, live environment.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as Lead A1 for live studio and remote productions

  • Design, build, and operate complex live audio workflows including studio and remote translations and transcriptions

  • Operate and program Calrec digital audio consoles for live news and special event coverage

  • Program and maintain intercom systems including Calrec RTS ADAM/AZ Edit environments

  • Partner with production, engineering, and technical teams to ensure seamless live broadcasts

  • Troubleshoot and resolve audio issues quickly during live productions

  • Perform daily audio checks for microphones, IFBs, and studio equipment before broadcasts

  • Mentor and support junior audio operators and freelance staff

  • Maintain high standards for audio quality across all live programming

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • Experience mixing audio for live television broadcasts

  • Expert-level proficiency with digital mixing consoles including Calrec, RTS intercom systems, AZ Edit, Dante, and AoIP audio networks

  • Strong understanding of broadcast signal flow and audio routing

  • Ability to troubleshoot technical issues in a fast-paced, live production environment

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills

  • Flexibility to work a variety of shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays

  • Ability to remain focused while working in a live control room for extended periods

Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
