Position Summary

The Field Technician installs, configures, tests, troubleshoots, and services low-voltage AV systems for commercial, industrial, and institutional customers. This role supports full lifecycle delivery-from site walks and rough-in to commissioning, client handoff, and ongoing service-while ensuring code compliance, safety, documentation quality, and excellent customer experience.

Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical & Installation Leadership
  • Lead installation, programming, testing, and commissioning of low-voltage AV systems, including: Commercial AV systems (displays, conferencing, audio, control systems)

  • Interpret and execute drawings, schematics, and project documentation

  • Perform system troubleshooting, diagnostics, and advanced service work

  • Ensure installations meet code requirements, manufacturer specifications, and company standards

Project & Team Leadership
  • Act as the on-site lead for assigned projects, coordinating daily work activities

  • Mentor and guide technicians and apprentices, ensuring quality and efficiency

  • Communicate progress, challenges, and change needs to Project Managers

  • Support project closeout, punch lists, and system turnover documentation

Customer & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Serve as a professional, customer-facing representative of Tech Electronics

  • Explain system functionality and provide basic user training when required

  • Maintain a strong focus on customer satisfaction and jobsite professionalism

Safety, Quality & Documentation
  • Enforce jobsite safety practices and company policies

  • Maintain accurate documentation, as-builts, and service records

  • Assist with quality control inspections and system acceptance testing


QualificationsRequired
  • 5+ years of experience in low-voltage AV systems installation

  • Proven experience leading projects or crews in the field

  • Strong knowledge of:

    • Commercial AV components and signal flow

    • Low-voltage cabling standards and best practices

  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams

  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to job sites

Preferred
  • Manufacturer certifications (e.g., Crestron, Extron, Biamp, etc.)

  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification

  • NICET or other industry certifications

  • Experience with system commissioning and customer training
