Job Description:

If you have a passion for technology, enjoy hands-on problem solving and want to learn how engineering products are positioned, promoted and supported in the market, we'd like to talk to you. Microchip's MCU Business Unit is seeking a summer intern to support our outbound marketing team with technical, operational and analytical projects that help bring embedded products and customer-facing demos to life.

The intern will help the team improve efficiency and organization across several hands-on and operational workstreams, including demo preparation, prototype support, demo inventory management, audience research, content development and campaign reporting. This position will give the intern practical exposure to embedded technology products, engineering-driven marketing, customer messaging, analytics and the systems used to support product promotion at scale.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Creating or modifying simple CAD designs for demo enclosures, mounting hardware or prototype support fixtures
  • Supporting 3D printing activities, including print preparation, basic printer operation and quality review of printed components
  • Maintaining demo inventory records, including demo status, location, version, owner, hardware details and supporting presentation materials
  • Helping standardize repeatable workflows, templates and documentation for demo management and knowledge transfer
  • Analyzing engagement patterns across marketing channels to identify which technical content resonates with specific customer segments
  • Supporting development of customer personas based on technical needs, pain points and purchasing or design-decision drivers
  • Reviewing YouTube, social media, web and campaign performance data to identify content patterns and recommend improvements
  • Transforming technical documentation, product information and engineering inputs into audience-appropriate marketing content
  • Extracting and organizing campaign performance data from tools such as Adobe Analytics and Tableau into standardized reporting templates
  • Collaborating with marketing, technical marketing and engineering team members to support product promotion, demo readiness and stakeholder reporting

This internship is intended to provide hands-on experience for a student interested in hardware design, embedded systems, technical communication or product marketing while helping the team create more scalable and sustainable processes.

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in a STEM field; Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related technical discipline preferred
  • Interest in embedded systems, hardware design, microcontrollers, development tools or technical product marketing
  • Familiarity with CAD tools such as Fusion 360, SolidWorks or similar tools preferred
  • Familiarity with 3D printing, prototyping or hands-on fabrication processes preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records across multiple small projects
  • Comfortable working with technical information and translating it into clear, audience-appropriate content
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable working with data, metrics and reporting tools
  • Familiarity with website analytics, Tableau, Adobe Analytics, YouTube analytics or social media performance metrics is a plus
  • Creative problem-solving skills and the ability to bring fresh perspective to technical marketing challenges
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with cross-functional marketing and engineering stakeholders
  • Organized, dependable and able to manage multiple tasks in a fast-moving environment
