034Motorsport is a leading automotive engineering firm specializing in performance products, tuning, racing, and service for Audi and Volkswagen vehicles. We are seeking qualified candidates to join our growing team. We offer an upbeat, team-oriented work environment focused on automotive performance and service.

Position

Performance Hard Parts Engineer โ€“ Fremont, CA

Responsibilities
  • Use CAD software to draw component designs and create assemblies for both component and retail products.
  • Validate that designs meet objectives by analyzing real world validation using test jigs, dynamometer and similar testing equipment.
  • Determine best production methods and materials necessary to meet project objectives.
  • Create and maintain Bill of Materials (BOM).
  • Maintain project documentation and provide data as requested to marketing, sales and customer service personnel.
  • Maintain QC documentation.
  • Assist in the development of product assembly and retail installation instructions.
  • Coordinate with internal procurement department on supplier selection for components and/or production.
  • Coordinate with internal production and fabrication departments throughout the entire project design and life cycle.
Requirements
  • Simulation and virtual validation of design, FEA and CFD (ex: Cosmoswork, etc) is a plus, but not required.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, and design to manufacture principals โ€“ sheet metal parts, castings, tube, plastics (injection, rotomold), machining (lathe, mill, multi-axis), and multi-process manufacturing.
  • Experience with rapid development tools such as CMM arms, 3D scanners, and 3D printers.
  • Experience with CAD to CAM process and limitations (CNC Mill, Lathe, Bender, Brake).
  • Composite mold and layup experience a plus.
  • Professional oral and written communication.
  • Strong desire to satisfy the customer (whatever it takes).
  • Take ownership of issues and drive to completion.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills (ability to take a step-by-step analytical approach).
Preferred Experience
  • Very strong design aesthetic. Industrial design experience is a huge plus.
  • Interest in vehicle performance, and familiarity with Audi, VW and BMW vehicles is a plus.
  • Automotive mechanical ability is a huge plus (has installed parts on their own car).
