Job Summary
TYLin City Solutions is looking for a dynamic Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS)/Signal System Design Engineer to help shape the future of mobility. In this role, you'll design and integrate cutting-edge transportation technologies that improve safety, optimize traffic operations, and connect communities. Working alongside multidisciplinary teams, you'll apply your technical expertise to deliver innovative ITS/signal system solutions that make cities smarter, safer, and more efficient. This position can be based in the DC metropolitan area.
Responsibilities & Qualifications
What You'll Do:
  • Contribute technical expertise on ITS, ATMS, signal system and transportation technology projects.
  • Develop design plans, specifications, and systems engineering documentation in line with FHWA guidelines.
  • Support planning efforts, including master plans, concept of operations, and policy documents.
  • Conduct field work, equipment testing, and infrastructure verification.
  • Develop signal design plans, signal interconnect plans in AutoCAD and Microstation
  • Prepare technical reports, specifications, and electrical design documents.
  • Apply knowledge across the ITS/ATMS lifecycle-from planning and design to implementation and operations.
  • Stay current on emerging technologies and assess applications for transportation safety, operations, and maintenance.
  • Assist with proposals, marketing, and participation in industry events.

What You'll Need:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Electrical, Systems Engineering, or related field.
  • 5-10 years of relevant ITS/ATMS, signal design experience.
  • PE license preferred.
  • Familiarity with FHWA Systems Engineering processes.
  • Willingness to travel for projects and client needs.
  • Strong technical background in ITS/ATMS/signal planning, design, and systems engineering.
  • Effective problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to build strong client and team relationships.
  • Self-motivated and adaptable to evolving technologies and project needs.
