Job Description

At Atlas, we're providing services that enable communities to flourish and thrive, and if you’re a Drill Assistant ready to drill borings to collect soil samples and committed to doing meaningful work, then this is your moment. Each morning you’ll load supplies, drive the 3/4-ton truck to the site to support the drill rig, spend the day drilling and logging soil samples, then return to the office to turn them in daily or weekly depending on location. This rare opportunity offers a fast-paced, safety-first environment where you play a vital role on a small field team while learning a foundational real-world trade and gaining hands-on experience as an entry-level geologist logging and classifying soil and rock.
Join a dynamic, value-driven, client- and community-focused environment where your work creates a lasting positive impact for the people and communities we serve.

Core Responsibilities

  • Logging/recording the various soil from each boring/hole you drill while placing it in sample jars until the end of day

  • Then return to our office to turn them in for our Engineers daily when working in town, or weekly when working out of town.

You’ll thrive here if you

  • Must have valid driver license with acceptable driving history. Class A CDL with Air Brakes is plus but not required

  • Must have an acceptable criminal history check (due to the nature of our clients)

  • Must be a "Safety Minded" individual that is able to follow company policies on safety, as well as be able to identify/avoid hazards as they arise/change in the field. Atlas is a drug free workplace

  • Must be able to read and interpret basic site plans, maps, etc. Must be able to read/follow instructions

  • Must be able to lift and carry +50lbs several times per day

  • Must be able to work standing on asphalt or in muddy conditions for 10hrs per day
