Position Title: Receptionist
Department: Activities
Reports to: Patient Relations Director
Category: Non Exempt
Position Summary: The primary purpose is to provide all personnel and facility contacts with prompt, courteous attention to their requests..
Essential Functions:
  • Attends work as schedules and follows community's call-off procedures.
  • Maintain an accurate resident census by resident name and room number.
  • Maintain accurate list of emergency telephone numbers.
  • Maintain accurate list of reference telephone numbers.
  • Maintain accurate list of key personnel numbers.
  • Maintain accurate list of medical staff telephone numbers.
  • Utilize a word processing software program accurately.
  • Operate the facility paging system.
  • Operate the facility telephone system.
  • Communicate effectively on the telephone and in person.
  • Be neat, clean and appropriately dressed to present an appearance acceptable to residents and the public.
  • Receive, sort and distribute mail accurately and timely.
  • Handle emergency situations in a calm, effective manner.
  • Follow fire and disaster procedures during a drill and actual occurrence.
  • Communicate and work cooperatively with all facility staff.
  • Screen and direct all incoming calls appropriately.
  • Answer all inquiries according to facility release of information policies and procedures.
  • Enforce visitation policies and procedures.
  • Screen all individuals coming into the facility and exercise good judgement in granting entrance.
  • Handle all correspondence assigned.
  • Assume accountability for data contained in the employee handbook.
  • Assume Quality Assurance duties as assigned.
  • Ensure that department computer workstations left unattended are properly logged off or the password protected screen-saver activates within established facility policy guidelines.

Non-Essential Functions:
  • Attends all required training, in-service, and staff meetings.
  • Strives to maintain a safe working environment through the prevention of accidents, the preservation of equipment, and the achievement of safe working practices.
  • Maintains a positive and professional demeanor toward residents, visitors, families, and co-workers.
  • Adheres to all policies and procedures of Spring Hills PASL, LLC.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Experience and Education: Must possess, as a minimum, a high school education or its equivalent. Associates Degree preferred but not required. Experience in Customer Service in the healthcare setting preferred.
Physical Requirements: Standing (under 1/3), walking (under 1/3), using hands to finger, handle or feel (over 2/3), reach with hands and arms (over 2/3), climb and balance (under 1/3), stoop, kneel (under 1/3), talk or hear (over 2/3), taste or smell (under 1/3). Lifting up to 10 pounds (1/3- 2/3), Up to 25 pounds (under 1/3); Up to 50 pounds (under 1/3)
