Job description

Texas Sports Academy is a K-12 school designed for serious student-athletes who want both elite academics and high-level athletic development. Students cover 2x the material in just 2 hours a day, using the same 2-Hour Learning model as Alpha Schools. That frees up their entire afternoon for serious training, where they work alongside former pro and D1 athletes coaching them at the highest standard.

We are hiring a Junior IT Operations Specialist based in Austin to support our IT Operations Manager with the daily work that keeps our device program and campus technology running. You will help configure and deploy MacBook Neos, manage inbound and outbound shipments, process device returns, and provide first-line support for students and staff. This role is a direct partner to the IT Operations Manager and a foundational seat on a growing IT team.

What You'll Do
  • Support the IT Operations Manager: Partner closely with the IT Operations Manager on daily execution, taking ownership of assigned tasks and freeing them up to focus on higher-level work.
  • Device Configuration and Deployment: Assist with imaging and preparing MacBook Neos for use, including installing our standard software stack, applying MDM profiles, configuring user accounts, and enforcing security settings before devices are shipped.
  • Inventory and Shipping Support: Help receive inbound shipments, log serial numbers, maintain organized inventory, and pack and ship laptops to our schools, coaches, and staff across Texas.
  • Returns and Device Recovery: Process returned, damaged, or end-of-life devices, wipe and reimage devices for redeployment when possible, and retire devices that have reached end of life.
  • First-Line User Support: Serve as the first point of contact for students and staff experiencing device issues, including login problems, software errors, and hardware concerns. Resolve issues directly when possible and escalate to the IT Operations Manager when needed.
  • Documentation and Records: Keep device tracking, ticket notes, and internal documentation accurate and current so the team can operate efficiently.

Requirements

  • IT Operations Experience: 1 to 3 years of hands-on IT support or IT operations experience. You can walk us through the devices you supported, the issues you resolved, and the systems you kept running.
  • macOS and Mobile Device Familiarity: Working experience with macOS deployment and management, and comfort supporting iOS or comparable mobile devices.
  • Comfort With Hands-On Work: This role requires regular physical work, including receiving shipments, lifting boxes, organizing inventory, and preparing outbound packages. Candidates should be comfortable with the operational and logistics side of the role.
  • Strong Customer Service Orientation: Ability to communicate clearly and patiently with students and parents, particularly during stressful situations such as a device failure before class.
  • Attention to Detail: Consistent, accurate record-keeping across inventory, shipments, and device assignments.
  • AI Forward: We use AI tools daily to streamline communications, automate repetitive tasks, and improve troubleshooting. Familiarity with tools such as Perplexity Computer is a plus.
  • Location: Austin-based. Candidates must live in or around Austin to commute to the worksite.
Bonus Points
  • K-12 or 1:1 Device Program Experience: Prior experience supporting student device programs, including deployments of 100 or more devices.
  • MDM Platform Experience: Hands-on experience with Apple Business Manager, Jamf, Kandji, Mosyle, or a comparable platform.
  • Scripting or Automation Familiarity: Exposure to scripting or automation tools used to streamline device imaging and onboarding.
  • Certifications: CompTIA A+, Apple Certified Support Professional, or comparable certifications.
