Job description

 


Must be able to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.  Hours will vary based upon flight schedules. 

Number of weekly hours may increase or decrease due to seasonal flight changes.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS

The Commissary Agent ensures all aircraft carts and bins containing prepared food, beverages, ice, and snacks are adequately prepared and in place on the aircraft in a timely manner. The Commissary Agent will also assist in removing empty carts/bins from the aircraft. Commissary Agents may be tasked with operating a motorized vehicle to move the carts/bins and may be asked to assist in loading/unloading other bags and/or equipment from the aircraft or in aircraft cleanup as needed.

  • Must be disciplined, highly motivated, with a positive and friendly attitude.
  • Maintain a clean work environment and practice good hygiene in handling food and following all applicable Food and Drug Administration guidelines.
  • Practice effective time management.
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours as dictated by flight schedules including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Promote safety and compliance with all regulatory, company, and airline requirements.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Handle multiple tasks simultaneously and adapt to constant changes.
  • Ability to work with different levels of management in communicating issues.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • A high school diploma or equivalent
  • Must speak English
  • Previous experience in food service or stocking preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must be able to understand basic arithmetic.
  • Must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening and 10-year background check.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Must be able to lift up to 70 lbs. when loading food and beverage carts and loading into bins and aircraft, or into storage shelves/compartments.
  • Must have physical dexterity sufficient to perform repetitive tasks and motions, including bending at the waist and knees, climbing, balancing, squatting, kneeling, crawling, twisting and sustaining those positions for extended amounts of time as the commissary is loaded into and off of the aircraft.
  • Must have sufficient hearing and vision and ability to safely perform the essential functions of the position.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment is at an airport, both indoors and outdoors. Extreme weather conditions and temperature ranges may be encountered.
