Asynchronous Project Manager information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Asynchronous Project Manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Asynchronous Project Manager, you need strong project management skills, experience in remote or distributed team environments, and often a relevant certification such as PMP or Agile. Familiarity with asynchronous communication tools like Slack, Trello, Asana, and cloud-based documentation platforms is typically required. Exceptional self-motivation, time management, and clear written communication help individuals excel in coordinating teams across different time zones. These competencies ensure projects stay on track, collaboration remains effective, and team productivity is maximized without real-time meetings.

How does an Asynchronous Project Manager effectively coordinate teams across different time zones and schedules?

As an Asynchronous Project Manager, you'll leverage digital tools and clear documentation to ensure all team members stay aligned despite working at different times. This involves setting clear expectations for deliverables, using project management platforms for updates, and fostering a culture of thorough communication. Regularly updating shared resources and providing detailed feedback help prevent misunderstandings and keep projects on track. The role demands strong organizational skills and the ability to anticipate potential bottlenecks that arise without real-time interaction.

What is an Asynchronous Project Manager?

The Asynchronous Project Manager leverages tools like project management platforms, shared documents, and messaging apps to ensure tasks are tracked, deadlines are met, and team members stay informed. Their role focuses on clear documentation, effective communication, and maintaining project momentum without relying on real-time meetings.

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Payroll Implementation Country Lead in Netherlands.

This is an exciting opportunity for a payroll expert to lead complex international payroll implementation projects within a fast-growing and fully remote global environment. In this role, you will oversee end-to-end payroll onboarding processes, ensuring customers transition smoothly through configuration, migration, testing, and go-live phases. You will work closely with operations, product, engineering, and client stakeholders to deliver scalable and compliant payroll solutions while improving implementation processes and automation capabilities. The position combines deep payroll expertise, project management, client communication, and process optimization in a collaborative and asynchronous work culture. This role is ideal for professionals who thrive in international environments, enjoy solving operational complexities, and are passionate about delivering high-quality payroll experiences at scale.

Accountabilities:
  • Lead end-to-end payroll implementation projects, including discovery, requirements gathering, system configuration, data migration, testing, parallel runs, and go-live support.
  • Conduct in-depth due diligence on customer payroll structures, ensuring accurate setup of payroll rules, accruals, tax and social security requirements, allowances, and country-specific regulations.
  • Manage payroll data migration activities, including mapping, validation, reconciliation, and loading of historical payroll information.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customers throughout the implementation lifecycle, communicating complex payroll concepts in a clear and structured manner.
  • Collaborate closely with operations, product, engineering, and implementation teams to improve tools, templates, automation processes, and operational efficiency.
  • Plan and execute payroll testing cycles, ensuring successful validation and reconciliation before production launch.
  • Create and maintain detailed project plans, documentation, and standard operating procedures to ensure smooth transitions into payroll operations.
  • Support implementation specialists and broader payroll teams through mentoring, knowledge sharing, and process guidance.
  • Monitor KPIs, SLAs, and implementation quality metrics to ensure successful and timely project delivery.
  • Participate in user acceptance testing (UAT) activities and contribute to platform improvements and product enhancements.
Requirements:
  • Extensive experience in payroll operations, payroll implementation, or payroll consulting environments.
  • Strong expertise in country-specific payroll legislation and compliance requirements, particularly within Italy payroll environments.
  • Hands-on experience implementing payroll systems such as Zucchetti Paghe Infinity, including configuration, migrations, validation, and go-live activities.
  • Deep understanding of payroll foundations including accruals, year-to-date handling, tax structures, social contributions, and payroll reconciliation processes.
  • Experience managing complex onboarding projects, mid-year transitions, and parallel payroll runs.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders, timelines, and priorities in remote environments.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail and process improvement mindset.
  • Proficiency with payroll and reporting tools such as SAP, Excel, and Google Sheets.
  • Ability to communicate complex payroll and technical information clearly to both internal teams and customers.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams including product, engineering, and operations.
  • Fluent English communication skills, both written and spoken.
  • Comfortable working in asynchronous, international, and fast-paced remote environments.
Benefits:
  • Fully remote work environment with the flexibility to work from anywhere.
  • Competitive salary package with compensation designed to support global pay equity and fairness.
  • Flexible working hours and asynchronous work culture promoting strong work-life balance.
  • Flexible paid time off policy.
  • 16 weeks of paid parental leave.
  • Mental health and wellbeing support services.
  • Stock option opportunities.
  • Dedicated learning and professional development budget.
  • Home office budget and IT equipment support.
  • Budget for coworking spaces and local in-person social events.
  • Opportunity to work in a globally distributed and innovation-driven organization focused on the future of work.
