Position Summary
The Head of Sales & Marketing is an Executive responsible for driving ticket revenue, brand growth, and audience development across a portfolio of resident and touring theatrical productions. Reporting directly to the President/CEO, this role leads Sales, Marketing, and Revenue Management during a period of significant organizational expansion.
The ideal candidate is a strategic, data-driven, and creative leader with deep experience in Live Entertainment, strong commercial instincts, and a proven ability to scale Sales and Marketing functions in a fast-growth environment across diverse production sizes and titles.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Organizational Scale
  • Provide direct leadership, coaching, and performance management for a Director of Sales, Director of Marketing, and Director of Revenue Management & Ticketing, ensuring cohesive strategy and alignment across teams and markets.

  • Build and lead a high-performance team that is deeply data-driven, comfortable testing and refining new commercial theories, able to pivot quickly in response to market signals, and highly motivated to consistently surpass revenue and growth KPIs.

  • Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and data informed decision making.

  • Set clear, annual performance expectations and KPIs across Sales, Marketing, and Revenue Management functions.

  • Partner closely with Operations, Finance, Production, and Creative teams, and more specifically the Head of Commercial Operations to align Commercial strategies with Operational realities.

Strategic Leadership & Revenue Growth
  • Develop and execute comprehensive Sales and Marketing strategies across multiple demographics and cities to maximize revenue and attendance across resident and touring productions. Contribute to long-range planning for new productions, tours, and market expansions with an aptitude for growth strategies. Partner with the President/CEO and Executive leadership to shape long-term Commercial strategy and support company-wide growth initiatives.

  • Build annual sales, promotion and pricing plans that align with revenue targets and historical data per market.

  • Lead pricing, ATP, and yield strategies with Revenue Management to optimize revenue performance across all markets.

  • Drive demand generation, audience acquisition, and customer lifecycle strategies for diverse productions and markets.

Sales Operations & Distribution
  • Oversee all ticket sales channels, including ticketing platforms, group sales, premium/VIP, partnerships, and third-party distribution.

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with presenters, venues, promoters, ticketing partners, and commercial stakeholders to maintain IP market prominence.

  • Ensure Sales strategies are effectively executed across resident engagements and multi-city tours.

Marketing, Brand & Audience Development
  • Set the overall Marketing vision across paid, earned, and owned channels, including digital, performance media, CRM, partnerships, and grassroots activations.

  • Drive brand growth and positioning, ensuring each production builds long-term brand equity while maximizing short-term performance.

  • With a dedicated team of experts, lead a comprehensive Social Media strategy across all platforms and unique brands/voices.

  • Drive brand positioning and campaign strategy for new launches, ongoing productions, and touring rollouts.

  • Develop and execute audience development strategies, including segmentation, lifecycle marketing, retention, and new audience acquisition.

  • Leverage consumer insights, data analytics, and market research to inform targeting, messaging, and budget allocation.

  • Oversee Marketing spend and ROI across productions and markets showing a willingness to be adaptive to highest results.

Financial & Executive Partnership
  • Own Sales and Marketing forecasting, budgeting, and performance reporting for a multi-million-dollar portfolio.

  • Present regular performance updates and strategic recommendations to the President/CEO and senior leadership.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Finance, Production, and Creative teams to align commercial execution with operational realities.

Qualifications & Experience
  • 12+ years of progressive experience in Sales, Marketing, and Revenue leadership within Live Entertainment, Theatre, Touring, or a related consumer-facing business.

  • Proven success leading Sales and Marketing for resident productions and touring shows, or comparable multi-market experiences.

  • Demonstrated ability to scale teams and systems during periods of rapid growth.

  • Strong understanding of ticketing ecosystems, pricing strategy, demand forecasting, and revenue optimization.

  • Highly analytical, with the ability to translate data into actionable strategy.

  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and executive-presence skills.

  • Passion for commercial theatre and live storytelling.
