Enterprise Application Integration Developer

AST SpaceMobile

Job description

Position Summary

AST SpaceMobile is seeking an iPaaS / Integration Engineer to join our Enterprise Applications team, specializing in the design, delivery, and operational maintenance of enterprise integrations across our manufacturing and business systems. As the platform of record for enterprise integration, Boomi orchestrates the critical data flows that connect our ERP (NetSuite), PLM (Fusion Manage and Windchill), MES (Tulip), and adjacent SaaS applications. The successful candidate will design, develop, configure, implement, and maintain integration processes, connectors, and API-based data flows that ensure reliable, auditable, and near real-time data movement between systems of record and downstream analytics and reporting layers.

This role sits at the center of the enterprise data fabric: upstream, it consumes structured and event-driven data from ERP, PLM, MES, and third-party SaaS systems; downstream, it feeds the data lake ingestion layer (bronze) and operational integrations with peer systems. The successful candidate owns everything between the system of record and the analytics/consumer boundary - integration flow design, data contracts, transformation logic, error handling, replay, monitoring, and governance - while collaborating closely with the Data Lake Engineer, whose scope covers curation of bronze, silver, and gold layers. This role also serves as AST's primary technical owner of the Boomi platform relationship, coordinating and supervising Boomi vendor and professional services engagements to support AST operations while progressively building internal capability and reducing external delivery dependency. This role partners with ERP, PLM, MES, security, and enterprise architecture teams to translate business and operational needs into robust, maintainable, and secure integration solutions that scale across AST's multi-site, multi-entity manufacturing footprint.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, configure, and maintain Boomi integration processes, connectors, and API-based flows across NetSuite (ERP), Fusion Manage and Windchill (PLM), Tulip (MES), Epsilon3, and adjacent SaaS applications supporting manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and finance.
  • Serve as AST's primary technical owner of the Boomi platform relationship; supervise and coordinate Boomi vendor and professional services engagements, scoping their work, managing deliverables, and driving effective knowledge transfer to internal staff.
  • Administer the Boomi environment (Atmosphere, runtimes/molecules, environments, and connections), including user and role management, environment promotion, credentials and secrets, and monitoring/alerting configuration.
  • Build, publish, and govern reusable APIs, connectors, and data contracts; establish integration patterns (event-driven, batch, request/response, pub-sub) and standards that scale across the enterprise application portfolio.
  • Own end-to-end integration lifecycle - requirements, technical design, build, testing (including UAT), deployment, and hypercare - with clear traceability from business need to production process.
  • Establish and monitor SLAs for integration flows: implement structured logging, error handling, retry/replay, dead-letter queues, and proactive alerting; own MTTR for integration incidents.
  • Feed the data lake bronze layer with clean, well-typed, auditable data extracts and change-data streams; partner with the Data Lake Engineer to define ingestion contracts, schemas, and data quality expectations at the source-to-lake boundary.
  • Document integration architecture, data flows, connector inventories, and runbooks; maintain a living integration catalog and governance model across multi-site operations (US, Israel, Spain, India).
  • Support compliance requirements (ITAR, CUI, CMMC) in integration design: enforce data residency, secure credential handling, encryption in transit and at rest, and least-privilege access across integration endpoints.
  • Evaluate and, where appropriate, extend the iPaaS/orchestration footprint (e.g., Celigo, event brokers, workflow orchestrators) as business needs evolve; contribute to the technology roadmap and tooling decisions.
  • Serve as the primary Jira support contact for integration and iPaaS requests; manage ticket triage, tracking, and reporting to Enterprise Applications and IT leadership.
  • Mentor peers, application owners, and business analysts on integration best practices, API contracts, and Boomi-specific patterns; drive continuous improvement across enterprise integration operations.
  • Assist with Boomi license usage optimization, connection sizing, and cost control for integration tooling.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience designing and delivering enterprise integrations, including at least 3 years on a mainstream iPaaS platform (Boomi strongly preferred; MuleSoft, Workato, SnapLogic, or Talend acceptable with willingness to work as the primary Boomi practitioner).
  • Proven experience integrating ERP systems (NetSuite preferred; SAP, Oracle, or equivalent acceptable) with PLM and MES systems in a manufacturing environment.
  • Expertise in REST and SOAP APIs, webhook and event-driven patterns, message queuing, and real-time data synchronization; solid understanding of authentication patterns (OAuth 2.0, API keys, mTLS, SAML).
  • Strong SQL and scripting skills (Python, JavaScript, or Groovy); comfort building transformation logic, error-handling routines, and reusable components inside the iPaaS platform.
  • Working knowledge of ISA-95 (enterprise-control system integration) concepts and enterprise architecture principles/frameworks such as TOGAF (or equivalent), applied to aligning ERP, PLM, and MES data models and system integrations.
  • Familiarity with data lake / lakehouse concepts (bronze/silver/gold, ELT patterns, change-data-capture) and how upstream integration quality affects downstream analytics.
  • Demonstrated ability to gather requirements, produce technical solution designs, perform testing (including UAT), and deliver production-ready implementations with appropriate documentation and runbooks.
  • Experience with change management, environment promotion, source control for integration artifacts, and integration governance.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage third-party technology vendors and professional services engagements, including scoping, oversight, and knowledge-transfer planning.
  • Skilled in MS Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, MS Project) and capable of working across multiple web platforms and admin consoles.
  • Strong analytical and technical skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently or in fast-paced, cross-functional teams; leadership experience preferred.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Boomi Professional or Architect-level certification.
  • Hands-on experience with NetSuite SuiteQL, SuiteScript, or NetSuite Boomi/Celigo connectors.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS/Azure), containerization, and event streaming (Kafka, EventBridge, or equivalent).
  • Prior work in aerospace, defense, or other regulated industries; familiarity with ITAR, CUI, and CMMC controls applied to integration endpoints.

Technology Stack

  • Integration Platform: Boomi (Atmosphere, AtomSphere API, Flow, Master Data Hub as applicable); Celigo where deployed; potential future iPaaS/orchestration additions.
  • Systems of Record: NetSuite (ERP), Fusion Manage and Windchill (PLM), Tulip (MES); Jira/Atlassian for work management; other SaaS as onboarded.
  • Downstream Consumers: Enterprise data lake (bronze/silver/gold layers), reporting/BI (Power BI preferred), and adjacent operational applications.
  • Protocols & Patterns: REST, SOAP, OData, SFTP, webhooks, change-data-capture, event-driven and batch integration patterns.
  • Collaboration & Analytics: Jira for task management; Power BI for analytics (preferred); PagerDuty for alerting.
  • Security & Compliance: ITAR / CUI / CMMC-aligned integration controls; secure credential management, encryption in transit and at rest, audit logging.

Work Location & Schedule

On-site in Midland, TX. Minimum, remote flexibility may be evaluated.
