Senior Quality Assurance Test Engineer

 

Job Type: Full-time

Department: Software
Reports To: VP of Software Development

Location: Fort Lauderdale, Florida - Hybrid (minimum 3 days in the office)

FLSA Status: Exempt


Position Summary:

 

As a Senior Assurance Test Engineer, you will play a critical role in shaping the quality standards of our products and services. You will lead and inspire a team of QA professionals, locally and offshore, to ensure the highest level of quality is consistently achieved. In this role, you will emphasize leadership, statistical analysis, and automation to drive efficiency and excellence in our QA processes.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Collaborate with engineering and product teams to understand device requirements and functionalities.
  • Quality Strategy: Develop and implement a comprehensive QA strategy and roadmap that aligns with the company's overall goals and objectives.
  • Statistical Analysis: Apply statistical methods, including items such as Design of Experiments, standard deviation and Cpk, to assess and improve the quality of products and processes.
  • Automation: Drive test automation initiatives to increase testing efficiency and reduce manual testing efforts, leveraging appropriate tools and technologies.
  • Quality Metrics: Establish key quality metrics and performance indicators, and regularly report on them to senior management to drive continuous improvement.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process optimization and lead the implementation of best practices and methodologies.
  • Collaboration: Foster collaboration with cross-functional teams, including development, product management, and customer support, to ensure a holistic approach to product quality.
  • Vendor Management: Oversee offshore QA teams, ensuring that they adhere to quality standards and processes, and manage vendor relationships effectively.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that products meet regulatory and compliance standards, if applicable to our industry.

Qualifications:

 

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer science, or a related field.

 

Experience

  • Minimum 2-5 years of experience in QA testing, with a focus on hardware or embedded systems a plus.
  • Experience with IoT protocols (e.g., Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Zigbee).
  • Familiarity with manual and automated testing techniques (exploratory, functional, regression).

 

Knowledge and Skills

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and lead a small QA team as the expert on the DUT
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Experience with team dynamics, helping others succeed while completing tasks yourself

 

Preferred

  • Experience with scripting languages like Python or Java for test automation.
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) used in IoT applications.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines for continuous integration and deployment.
  • Experience with using AI for test and automation, especially Cursor and Claude.

 

Physical Requirements:

 

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Regular standing, walking, and movement throughout the office.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and transport office supplies, packages, and materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to retrieve mail, packages, and office materials as needed.
  • Ability to move throughout the office and building in support of operational activities.
