Job Overview

Principal Systems Engineer – Onsite (Largo, FL)

We are hiring a Principal Systems Engineer to support the Strategic Defense Solutions (SDS) team, working with U.S. military and international customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Organize and lead the development of full‑life‑cycle solutions from CONOPS to validation.
  • Lead lab activities, including setup, configuration management, and testing.
  • Ensure modeling, hardware, and software interfaces use a scalable ontology.
  • Mentor professionals of varying experience levels.
  • Prepare and manage cost and schedule of design reviews, integration, dry runs, and formal qualification testing.
  • Influence decision makers with recommended courses of action across complex problems.
  • Review and document major changes in systems or processes.
Required Qualifications
  • STEM degree with ≥8 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with ≥5 years, or in lieu of a degree, 12 years of experience.
  • Active U.S. DoD Secret clearance available Day 1 (ability to obtain Top Secret clearance).
  • U.S. citizenship required.
  • Experience on a DoD program as a CPTL/IPTL or engineering team lead, including CAM experience.
  • Experience with DoD systems engineering processes, technical reviews, audits, and MIL‑STD compliance.
  • Demonstrated ability to create verification plans, conduct test procedures, and manage requirement traceability matrices (e.g., IBM DOORS, Cameo).
  • Proven experience in systems design, specification development, traceability, and IV&V activities (e.g., HITL, software testing).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with voice communication systems (VoIP, SIP, RTP, SRTP).
  • Knowledge of configuration management practices.
  • Ability to write comprehensive test reports, discrepancy reports, and system evaluation reports.
  • Hands‑on experience with integration & testing tools such as MATLAB, Python, Robot Framework, Selenium WebDriver, Ansible, DOORS, Cameo, JIRA/Confluence.
  • Experience developing and managing requirements and MBSE model development using UAF.
  • Knowledge of military specifications (MIL‑STD‑810, 461, 1472).
  • Proficiency with system design tools (MATLAB, Simulink, etc.).
  • Active U.S. DoD Top Secret clearance required prior to start.
