Job Title: Web Platform Engineer II

FLSA Status: Exempt

JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for complex web delivery platforms including building, maintaining, enhancing, and
supporting the web application infrastructure as directed by management in accordance with the
business needs of the company, providing coordination, troubleshooting, new solutions, research, and
training.


POSITION ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Design, create, and support the web development platform including code repositories,
    deployment tools, continuous integration, databases, and servers.
  • Responsible for web platform problems ensuring they are thoroughly researched and brought to a
    satisfactory conclusion.
  • Coordinate system maintenance activities of the web platform, focused on performance and
    stability, including monitoring, backup, upgrades, patching, high availability, and deployment
    procedures.
  • Research, analyze, and recommend web platform solutions and new technologies according to
    business needs based on cost/benefit analysis.
  • Responsible for writing detailed technical and functional documentation including the scripting of
    installation, configuration, and tuning of software and servers to support production and
    development environments for web applications.
  • Collaborate with security personnel to strengthen system security to protect against data loss.
  • Install, configure, and tune software and servers to support production and development
    environments for web applications.
  • Rapidly produce interim deliverables (such as technical specifications, prototypes, development
    environments, proofs of concept, etc.) in addition to the final production platform.
  • Coordinate upgrades for the web application platform, providing proper planning, testing,
    implementation, and purchasing support.
  • Establish and maintain Disaster Recovery documentation as required for business continuity as
    systems are added and changed.
  • Lead medium size projects including product evaluation, systems design, resource allocation,
    training, and implementation.
  • Maintain direct working relationships with technology vendors applicable to the web application
    platform to stay abreast of changes and future direction.
  • Complete other projects as assigned.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
List Degree Requirement, Years' Experience, and Certifications

  • Associate’s degree in an IT-related field or equivalent degree required.
  • Must have three years of experience managing hardware, software, and/or communication
    infrastructure within a mixed-system environment including Windows servers, Linux and/or other
    hosting platforms.
  • Must have one year of additional experience integrating and supporting modern web development
    and production platforms.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or Information Systems related field is desired.
  • Network or Systems Certifications (Red Hat, Microsoft, Cisco, IBM, etc.) desired.
  • Insurance background is desired.
