We are seeking an Intellectual Property Counsel to join a tight-knit team that works alongside our world-class engineers, scientists, and program leaders to protect and use our leading-edge technology to propel P&W forward.
**This role is a hybrid work opportunity at our East Hartford, Connecticut location.
As Associate Director, Intellectual Property Counsel, you will support our P&W's growing, global aerospace business. You will work closely with peers across legal, business and technical teams to develop and execute intellectual property strategies and support the business bringing our innovative technology to market. You will need to take a visible role, connect and work effectively with those peers, and win their confidence. You must be integral to the cross-disciplinary team while providing effective legal advice and counsel.
The business is dynamic, complex, and fast-paced. The position demands legal acumen, business focus and impeccable integrity.
You will report directly to the Vice President, Chief Intellectual Property Counsel for P&W. Occasional business travel (domestic and international) may be required.
What You Will Do:
  • Collaborate with clients in developing and executing intellectual property strategies for key technologies and programs.
  • Negotiating and advising regarding an array of transactions with customers, suppliers, partners and license counterparties, and supporting mergers and acquisitions.
  • Overseeing and managing patent preparation and prosecution.
  • Monitoring, assessing and mitigating risk regarding third-party patents and applications
  • Counseling, dispute resolution, and representing the company in disputes involving intellectual property in both administrative and other settings.
  • Driving IP engagement within the business

Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Juris Doctorate from an accredited institution and undergraduate degree in engineering or technical field, and 10+ years of professional experience - including 5+ years of experience as a practicing attorney.
  • Currently admitted and in good standing with at least one state bar.
  • Currently admitted or eligible for U.S. Patent bar.
  • Eligible for a U.S. Security Clearance.

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in mechanical, aerospace, materials or comparable engineering or technical discipline.
  • Engineering experience within the same fields.
  • IP litigation and transactional experience.
  • USG contracts IP.

The salary range for this role is 157,200 USD - 298,800 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
